For the Winter 2011-2012 Session, Elite has approximately 35 beginner level openings. Elite now offers a Pre-Elite program which program is meant to bridge the gap between swimmers not quite ready for competitive swimming and the competitive team. Pre-Elite will be offered from Monday, Sept 19 thru Friday, November 11 and will be held Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Swimmers from Pre-Elite will have 1st entry opportunities into Elite (possibly during the Winter 2011-12 Session, if openings occur). 25-30 openings are available at Pre-Elite this fall.
 There are
also 3-8 roster spaces available at each of the 7 training group levels .
For the competitive team, advanced beginner level practices are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newark Academy and on Sundays from 1:15 to 2:00 pm at Morristown-Beard School (Marlin Teal and Marlin Black training groups). Schedule varies for more advanced swimmers (see practice schedule on the team website.
For Age Group swimmers (generally 14 & Under), the program is designed to
combine stroke technique, conditioning and fun in an effort to introduce to the
sport of swimming & develop swimmers into highly competitive-Elite level
swimmers..
1st practices start in mid September. A four
week schedule is posted on the team website under Practice Schedule. Directions
for each training site are posted on the Elite website under Practice Schedule.
Elites philosophy is that swimming is both a skill and an endurance sport.
Thus, considerable time is spent teaching the skills of swimming. The program
is set up like a school, with swimmers mastering certain prescribed skills at
each level of the program. To progress thru the program, a swimmer will need to
master the skills needed plus will need to show a commitment to the sport thru
attending a minimum of 75% of the practices.
For Senior Level swimmers (approximately 14 & Older), the program combines
stroke technique analysis thru digital technology; strength building and
serious conditioning to produce repeated optimum performances and continual
development. Senior Level Swimmers (both Seniors and
Senior Preps) will train at Morristown-Beard Monday thru Thursday and both
Saturday and Sunday.
Swimmers and parents can find more information
regarding Elite and its philosophy under the About Elite tab on the home
page.
