Docker Hartfield Head Coach

HIGH SCHOOL: Docker graduated from Griswold High School in 1973 after competing in four sports. His high school highlight happened after he threw a no-hitter baseball game on his coach's 200th career victory. His only regret may be that he gave the baseball to his coach when he could have kept it.

COLLEGE: His college years were spent at Buena Vista University at Storm Lake, Iowa. He swam competitively in college and earned four letters. Before graduating in 1977, he worked 40 hours a week and still earned his degree in four years. "That's my claim to fame," he said. Docker helped the team win its conference championship four years in a row. He specialized in the 200 and 500 freestyle races.

COACHING CAREER: 1999 to present: Ralston High School swimming coach; He has been coaching Swim Omaha since 1991.  Before that he started coaching in college in 1976.

CACHING PHILOSOPHY: The way you perform is the way you practice. You also need hard discipline. It's that simple.

MOST INFLUENTIAL SPORTS PERSON IN YOUR LIFE: The most influential sports person in my life would be Dr. Lewis at Buena Vista University. He made sense out of hard work.

SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU: He is mechanically inclined and meticulous about his personal belongings, especially his three restored vehicles.
