Important information about season start up

Welcome back RIP parents and swimmers!

We have a lot of things coming up over the next 2 weeks so please take the time to read thru everything!

AGM/Information/Registration/Awards  - Wednesday September 18th, 630-9pm

630-7pm – ALL returning/registered parents are to attend the club’s AGM in room 212 at Elevation Place.

630-7pm – information session, this is for NEW parents to the club and anyone looking for more information about what we do.  This will be held in room 119 at Elevation Place.

7-8pm – ALL registered swimmers/parents, this will be the time where you can order competition suits, caps and team hoodies/pants, you will need to check that your registered information is correct, collect your RIP t-shirt and cap, submit your volunteer bond cheque, pick up your raffle tickets, and drop off cheques for grocery cards.  This will be in room 212 at Elevation Place.

What to bring:

  • your volunteer bond cheque post dated for june 1 2020 - $500 for novice 2/R/W/G groups and $300 for novice 1.  See new volunteer policy.
  • Cheques for buying RIP clothing if you want.
  • Cheques for ordering grocery cards for save on foods – this is a big way the club can raise funds so we are asking all families to purchase $200/month worth of grocery cards.
  • Pick up 20 raffle tickets/family – another big fundraiser for the club.  We are asking that all families sell 20 raffle tickets.  You will be invoiced for the tickets at a later date.

8-9pm – Awards assembly for the 2018-2019 season.  This will also be in room 212 at EP.  We are looking for 5 volunteers to bake a dozen baked goods for this.  Please e-mail Pam at [email protected] if you can help with this.


Board positions up for voting this year

We have 3 board positions that are up for grabs!!  President, Secretary and a Director at Large – Equipment Co-ordinator.  We are also looking for an Assistant Meet Manager this year – this is not a board position, but a volunteer position that will be playing a key role at our hosted swim meets working with our current meet manager and learning the ropes, with the intention of this person eventually taking over the role as Meet Manager for future seasons.  Descriptions of what is involved for all positions is here.  We will not be accepting nominations from the floor at the AGM, so if you are interested in any of these, please contact me at [email protected]


Melissa’s Road Race – Saturday September 28th, 830am-1230pm

The club is once again volunteer at Melissa’s.  We will be given $1000 if we can provide 20 volunteers for this event.  We will be all working together at handing out t-shirts to the racers – and everyone who volunteers gets one as well!  All ages are welcome.  If you are available to help, please sign up at  and sign up for       T-shirt pick up – Riptides only.


RIP first hosted swim meet – October 19th and 20th

Please save the date.  This will be our first hosted swim meet at Elevation Place for the season.  As per our volunteer policy – ALL swimmers are required to provide 1 volunteer for both days – afternoon of the 19th and morning of the 20th.  Sign up for volunteer shifts can be done on our website Volunteers do not need to be a family member – it can be a friend or anyone who is willing to volunteer on the swimmer’s behalf.  All families will be required to do an officiating clinic this year – as per our volunteer policy, and these can be done online.  It would be great if you could get this done prior to our first meet.  Parents new to the club – sign up as a timer is a great way to start.  If you don’t get your clinic in before hand, we can ensure that you are partnered with someone who has timed before so they can show you the ropes.  If you have not had a chance to read thru the club’s volunteer policy, please do so.  See attachment.


RIP Casino – November 11 & 12

It’s casino year!!  Every 3 years, the club runs casino shifts which is a huge fundraiser for the club!!  Brings in funds that help carry us for the following 3 years, so it’s very important that everyone helps out.  A lot of you have already signed up for shifts which is fantastic – but their still are some that need to be filled.  Sign up can be found on the events page of our website


Dare to Care – October 7th

The club will be bringing in a Dare to Care speaker who will be working with the swimmers, coaches and parents.  This event is MANDATORY by everyone.  Dare to Care is a nation wide anti-bullying program. All the details for it as well as links to their website for more information on the program can be found on the events page of the website Parents and coaches session will be 730-930pm in room 212 at Elevation Place.
