**PLEASE NOTE: Additional Fees NOT included in the above chart are as follows:

  • Swim Meet Entry fees ~ $75-100 per meet (up to 6 per season for competitive swimmers)
  • Swim wear (approx $30-100) and goggles ($20-40) - information on purchasing these items will be shared (contact Coach Mary-Anne for assistance if needed at edson.orca.coach@gmail.com)
  • Long Course Registration (April to June) – optional
    • You will have the option of registering for the Long Course Season (April to June). No further fundraising commitment will be required. Registration will open in January 2020 and fees are as follows:
      • Pre-Stars $100
      • Stars $165
      • Juniors $400
      • Intermediates $500

Here are 2 examples to show you how to use the chart:

Eg. You want to register your 9 year old swimmer in Stars, she will compete in swim meets and you do not want to do any volunteer or fundraising

You would choose the NONE option (column B), no volunteer cheques are required (column C) and your total swim fees due would be $760 (column E). If you would prefer to pay by instalments, you would be charged $108.57 (column F) plus your Swim Alberta fee of $172 (column A) for a total of $280.57 at the time of registration. You would then be charged $108.57 (column F) on the first of each month starting in October and ending in March (6 more instalments)

Eg. You want to register your 12 year old swimmer in Juniors, he will compete in swim meets and you want to do the partial fundraising option.

You would choose the PARTIAL option (column B), which means you agree to provide a $360 volunteer deposit (column C) and commit to completing this amount of volunteer/fundraising over the season. You are required to provide 2 x $180 deposit cheques (column D) - post dated for March 1, 2020 - on the first day of swimming. Your total swim fees due would be $1280 (column E). If you would prefer to pay by instalments, you would be charged $182.86 (column F) plus your Swim Alberta fee of $192 (column A) for a total of $374.86 at the time of registration. You would then be charged $182.86 (column F) on the first of each month starting in October and ending in March (6 more instalments)

In summary:

One-Time Payment Option

Your choice of A + E = Total amount due at time of registration if choosing one-time payment option

Paying By Instalments Option

Your choice of A + F = Total amount due at time of registration if choosing to pay by instalments

F = Amount due for the remaining 6 instalments, due on the 1st of each month (October to March)

For BOTH One-Time Payment and Paying By Instalments Option

C = Total volunteer deposit required based on fundraising commitment option

D = Volunteer deposit cheque number and amount. These are required PRIOR to your swimmer entering the pool. Board members will be at the pool the first week of swimming to collect these cheques. These cheques will not be cashed unless you do not complete the required fundraising commitment amount.

A = Mandatory Swim Alberta Fees. These fees are collected by the club and paid directly to Swim Alberta. Swim Alberta provides the Edson Orcas Swim Club with accident and liability insurance for members at home and at swim meets. The options are as follows:

Non-competitive $28 (will not compete at swim meets this season)

Competitive (ages 10 and under) $172 (will compete at swim meets this season)

Competitive (ages 11 and over) $192 (will compete at swim meets this season)

PLEASE KEEP READING FOR A MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE CHART ABOVE including a step by step process to determine your fees. We are happy to help if needed, please contact us at edsonorcaswim@gmail.com.

Step 1: Determine your Child's Swimming Group for the upcoming swim season.  The options are: PRE-STARS, STARS, JUNIORS OR INTERMEDIATES

Pre-Stars

Tues/Thurs

4:45-5:30pm

Beginning level of swim club.  Swimmers must have passed Swimmer 4 or be able to swim 25m of the pool.  It is recommended that children participate in the Rookie Camp so coaches can assess their ability.  This is an introductory group with 1.5 hours a week of water time with the possibility of attending and competing in swim meets. (~ages 6-8yrs)

Stars

Tues/Thurs

3:45-4:45pm

Swimmers continue to work on the technical aspect of all 4 strokes with an introduction to Intermediate medley and relays.  Swimmers will participate in swim meets.  Commitment for this level is 2 hours a week of water time. (~ages 8-10yrs)

Juniors

Mon/Wed/Fri

3:45-5:15pm

This is a competitive level that includes stroke enhancement and introduces dryland training/nutrition along with some specialty training when available. Swimmers in this level may be working towards or reaching Provincial standard times. Commitment for this level is 4.5 hours a week of water time with some dryland training. (~ages 11-13yrs)

Intermediates

Mon/Wed/Fri

3:45-5:15pm and Tues/Thurs 6:45-7:45am

Competitive level where swimmers are working towards their specialty stroke(s) and swims, have provincial standards or very close to, as well as working towards provincial championships and nationals.  Swimmers at this level have the option to assist with the pre-stars group.  Commitment for this level is 6.5 hours a week of water time with some dryland training. (~ages 14-16yrs)

For returning swimmers, Coach Mary-Anne would have indicated her recommendation for the upcoming season at the end of last year.

For new swimmers, Coach Mary-Anne will indicate the recommended group at the end of Rookie Camp week.

If you are unsure of which level you should select for your child, please email Coach Mary-Anne at edson.orca.coach@gmail.com.

Step 2: Choose Your Volunteer/Fundraising Commitment level. The options are: FULL volunteer/fundraising, PARTIAL volunteer/fundraising or NO volunteer/fundraising

All options are depicted on the attached chart. Please read the following carefully in order to make sure you understand what you are selecting.

In order to keep swim fees as low as possible for our members, our club must do a certain amount of fundraising each season. We understand that life is busy, and some families cannot commit to as many hours of volunteering/fundraising as others and also that some families rely greatly on the fundraising opportunities in order to make swimming more affordable. Therefore, we have chosen to offer a 3-tiered fundraising/volunteering commitment system. The fees you will owe for registration will be directly reflective of the level of fundraising commitment you choose. The more time you commit to fundraising, the lower your fees can be.

If you need your fees to be as low as possible or have more time to commit to volunteering/fundraising, you would pick the FULL volunteer/fundraising commitment tier.

If you want a modest reduction on your fees and you can commit to do some fundraising/volunteering in order to cover part of your fees, you would pick the PARTIAL volunteer/fundraising commitment tier.

If you would like to pay all of your swim fees and skip the volunteer/fundraising this year, you will pick the NONE level of fundraising/volunteering commitment tier.

When registering and selecting volunteer/fundraising commitment level FULL, PARTIAL or NONE, you are agreeing to generate the equivalent amount of money for which your fees were reduced for the Edson Orcas Swim Club as we require these funds to stay afloat. You can see on the chart that the amounts are dependent on your child's swimming group and on the volunteer/fundraising commitment level you choose.

In order for the club to safeguard against those situations in which families cannot or do not complete their agreed upon fundraising/volunteering commitments, we are requiring all families who have selected either FULL or PARTIAL commitment tiers to provide us with a VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT in the form of postdated cheques (that will total the amounts you will be required to raise for the club for each swimmer registered) in exchange for lower fees. The number of cheques you must provide (1-4) as well as the amount for which they will be made out for will depend on your athlete's swim level as well as the Volunteer/Fundraising Commitment Option you have selected. Please see the above chart for exact amounts. VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT cheques should be post-dated for March 1, 2020. These cheques will only be cashed if you do not complete your required fundraising commitment selected by the end of March 2020 (for each swimmer registered). These cheques will be collected on the first day of swimming in September and your child(ren) will not be allowed to swim until the cheque is provided to the volunteer coordinator or board member present that day.

Each Fundraising/Volunteer activity that will be available over the 2019-2020 swim season will be assigned a monetary value (watch for more specific details on our new website www.edsonorcaswim.ca).

Here is a tentative list of potential volunteer/fundraising options and associated value.

Step 3: Choose your Swimmer’s Competitive Swimming Level to determine your Swim Alberta Fee. The options are as follows: NON-COMPETITIVE or COMPETITIVE.

The amount of the fee will be dependent on each child's age as of December 31, 2019, as well as the competitive level in which they will swim. The options are as follows:

  • Non-competitive $28 (will not compete in swim meets)
  • Competitive (ages 10 and under) $172 (will compete in swim meets)
  • Competitive (ages 11 and over) $192 (will compete in swim meets)

If you are unsure of which competitive level you should select for your child, please email Coach Mary-Anne at edson.orca.coach@gmail.com.

You must select a Competitive Level (Swim Alberta Fee Category) for EACH swimmer you are registering and add it to your account before checking out. You cannot be officially registered with the Edson Orcas and Swim Alberta without paying this fee. These fees are collected by the club and paid directly to Swim Alberta. Swim Alberta provides the Edson Orcas Swim Club with accident and liability insurance for members at home and at swim meets. This is a mandatory fee for the club.

The options for Competitive Level (Swim Alberta Fees) will appear bellow your swim fee selections as a separate charge and you must input the quantity of swimmers your family is registering into each competitive level.  If you miss this step, you will be sent an additional invoice after you have completed your registration so please make sure you add your Swim Alberta Fee!

Step 4: Choose your payment option. The options are as follows: ONE TIME COMPLETE PAYMENT or INSTALMENTS

When you register you can choose to pay the entire amount up front or opt for instalments.  If you choose to pay by instalments, you will be charged your first instalment plus the Swim Alberta Fee at the time of registration. The additional instalments will then be processed on the first of each month starting in October and continuing through until March (a total of 6 additional instalments).  If you choose a One-Time Complete Payment, you will be charged all swim fees for the season (September-March), plus the Swim Alberta Fees upon completing your online registration. You will be required to save a credit card to your account for this and all future payments no matter what payment options you choose.

Important Notes:

  • If you to need discuss alternate payment options, please contact Kerry Sauve-Johnston (President) at edsonorcaswim@gmail.ca BEFORE completing your registration.
  • If you attended the AGM on April 17th, 2019 and signed the attendance sheet, you will be refunded 10% of your family’s total Edson Orca Swim fees once you have successfully completed your online registration. The 10% discount will not be applied to Swim Alberta Fees or payment transaction fees. This refund will be returned to the original form of payment. ie Credit Card. Please allow a couple weeks for this refund to be processed.
  • Each Online payment will be subject to an online processing fee of $0.20 plus 3.65% of the total payment. This charge is determined by Team Unify and paid to them.
  • We are also happy to provide a multi-swimmer discount to families this year. The discount will be as follows:
    • 2 Swimmers – 5% discount per family
    • 3 Swimmers – 10% discount per family

    • 5 swimmers – 20% discount per family
    • Please note this discount does not apply to the Swim Alberta Fees or processing fees.
  • Parents/Guardians are required to sign a hard copy of our Notification of Risk Waiver as well as a PIPA Form (Personal Information Protection) PRIOR to your swimmer entering the pool. These forms are available on our website www.edsonorcaswim.ca under Documents. Copies will also be provided at the pool on the first day of swimming.
