21-22 SACAC Coaches' Message #9

Lou Williams

Good afternoon SACAC Swimming and Diving families!

I’m going to keep this Coaches’ message short, as this coach needs a nap after another long weekend of swimming.

Our SACAC divers competed against Upper Dublin on Friday night, our SAHS high school team had their first “official” morning lift and practice of the 21-22 season on Saturday morning, our girls team traveled to MAC for a SAL dual while the boys swam MAC at home Saturday afternoon and we had 37 swimmers compete at the North Penn Trophy Meet yesterday!!

The coaches and I saw lots of fast swimming and hard work from our kids. We hope that you parents are enjoying the return of SACAC swimming as much as we are.

Again, the SAL League is not keeping score or keeping records for dual meets this season but I can say that our boys defeated MAC handily on Saturday while the girls lost a close meet on the road. I haven’t really been creating lineups with the intent to “win” but now that I know teams are, in fact, going to keep, and sometimes announce, dual meets scores; I’ll make sure to put together stronger lineups.
I take full responsibility for the girl’s loss on Saturday; we could have won that meet easily.

They did tally team scores during yesterday’s North Penn Trophy meet and I’m happy to announce that our girls finished in second place out of 15 teams and our boys finished fourth out of 15. That’s a really great showing at an Invitational with some experienced teams and swimmers.
Awards from yesterday’s North Penn Trophy meet will be available at the SAHS pool this evening. I’ll set the trophies out on a table outside of the pool so swimmers and families can grab them.

The Thanksgiving holiday gives us a short respite from the dual meet season this week. Please note that SACAC will only practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The SASD schools and offices are closed on Thursday and Friday so we aren’t permitted to rent the pool on those days. We do have a number of our USA swimmers participating in the North Penn Distance Invitational on Saturday so we’ll see how they react to a short week of practice and a mini “taper” leading into Saturday.
Divers, please note that there is no diving practice this week.

We will return to dual meets next Saturday December 3rd when the boys travel to Perkiomen Valley Aquatic Club. The girls will host PVAC on the same day.

2022 Greater Tampa Swim Association Spring Championship Meet
SACAC leadership and I have been talking about this for a few years and I’m happy to announce that it looks like our SACAC USA rep Jenn Woods has found a spring travel meet for our USA Swimmers to attend.
The SACAC USA coaches and I are excited to celebrate the end of the spring championship season (MA Seniors, MA JO’s, MA Silvers and spring 10-under champs) with a weekend meet in Tampa, Fla from 4/8-4/10.
Please note that this meet is only for our USA swimmers and is yet to be 100% confirmed. There are no qualifying times and there are events available for all swimmers 9-up.
Thank you to our USA Swimming families that expressed interest. We have alerted the meet director that we plan to attend and you guys should be seeing this meet posted on the events page for entries soon. Information about hotels and travel are forthcoming.

Meet Mobile
I’m sure you’ve heard people reference the Meet Mobile application for viewing meet results on your phone, but if you haven’t, I would highly recommend adding this app. Meet Mobile is a pay app (I think I pay $5.99/year) that allows you to view meet results, in real time, from swimming competitions all over the world. We will be posting our home meet results on Meet Mobile as will a majority of the teams in our SAL League.
Once you have the app you can add our SACAC team as a favorite and “star” your swimmer so when they swim those results come as notifications to your cell. I’ve got all of our SACAC swimmers and SAHS swimmers past and present “starred” so I’m constantly getting alerts from aquatic club and college meets throughout the year.

SACAC team suits
There are a few SACAC team suits left to distribute. If you have yet to pick yours up, please make sure to grab them at practice this week.
Team caps have yet to be delivered but we will get them out as soon as we get them in.

Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found at the SAHS pool is growing rapidly. If your athlete has lost an item in the last week or two feel free to stop at the pool and ask to go through the pile. Lost and Found items that remain at the end of the season will be thrown out or donated.

I’m happy to answer any questions/concerns in person outside of the SAHS pool during the first few weeks or via email at [email protected].
Please feel free to shoot me an email or ask to speak to me at the pool.
