Upcoming Meets

Happy New Year Kingfisher Families!  We hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season.  Thank you to everyone who participated in our swim-a-thon on December 15th. The kids had fun, and I enjoyed the oppotunity to connect with many of you!

The next couple months will keep us busy, with both home and travel meets.  Our coaches are excited to get back to a normal practice schedule and see the swimmers we’ve missed while on break.

The first meet on our calendar is Southcentral Sprint Championships, in Kenai, the weekend of January 11th.  This is a fun meet for swimmers of all ages and abilities. If you’re planning to travel to this meet and haven’t yet spoken with me, please contact me ASAP.  We have seats blocked on RAVN (approximately $300 round trip, per person), but will need to submit names and meet entries.

January 18th-19this our first home meet of 2019. On Saturday we will draw the winner of our quilt raffle and give out prizes for the swim-a-thon.  As always, it takes a lot of volunteers to run our meets, and we’re grateful for everyone who helps.

Our third meet of the year is on February 1st-2nd.  This is the last meet for swimmers to qualify for Age Group Championships.  Qualifying times for Age Groups are posted on the bulletin board at the pool.

The team will then travel to Anchorage February 15th-17thfor Age Group Championships.  This meet is for swimmers age 14 and under, who have achieved qualifying times. It’s an excellent opportunity for swimmers to compete in an off-island championship meet. Coaches will be talking to swimmers who have achieved qualifying times, as well as those who are close to qualifying. We hope to take a large group of swimmers to this meet!

This is a snapshot of events during the next couple of months.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

See you on deck,

Coach Maggie
