During meets, writing on your swimmer’s arm is the easiest way for them to remember when they are supposed to swim. A sharpie works best. You can get the information off of a heat sheet (breakdown of the meet by event) the day of the meet or when the coaches send out an email with all the swimmers’ events.

E stands for Event, H stands for Heat and L stands for Lane. In relays, it’s a good idea to also let them know when they are swimming in the relay so they don’t forget. You can do that by adding their position (when they swim) after the lane number. I normally write what the event is on the end. You and your swimmer can come up with a shorter explanation that works for your swimmer.

I’ve attached a mock one I did on my son’s arm. Let me know if there are questions.
