The Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim Team  offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim Team  to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.
 

We have tryouts available at 5:30pm Monday, Wednesday or Friday but please try to contact us before you come in. Minnows group

This is our entry level group. An athlete needs to be able to swim front crawl and backstroke fairly well to enter this group. They will learn all four strokes and begin to perform them legally in competition.

Workout Days/Times: Monday-Friday 5:30-6pm

Blue Group

From the Minnow group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus mainly on improving the  four legal competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn technique.
Blue Group Coach: Katie Dawley and Angie Brennan
Workout Days/Times: M-F 5:00-6:00pm

Bronze Group

From the Blue group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are usually at least 9 years old and have completed the Bronze Group move-up skills list. This group is exposed to training for the first time while trying to prepare for the 200 Freestyle and 200 Individual Medley races. Competing at swim meets is highly encouraged at a rate of about once per month.

Silver Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is 10 years old. Athletes entering this group must display a desire to begin training on a more committed basis. Competition at swim meets is expected in this group. Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in the athlete?s development. Athletes in this group train for the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyles.

Gold Group

Minimum age for entry into this group is going into 9th grade. Athletes entering the Gold group must display a strong desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of. Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Gold group are directed towards making their Alaska Senior Championship Time Standards. Minimum training sets include:

4x200IM @3:00

High Performance Group Coach:  Angie Brennan
Workout Days/Times: Monday-Friday 3:00-5:00pm

National Group

Minimum criteria for entry is (1) National time standard and a desire to be competitive on a National level. This group focuses on qualifying for Olympic Trials every 4 years. Minimum training sets for entry include:
