This Week's Schedule and Notes

Coach Jeff Berghoff Moon Site

STEEL CITY AQUATICS FAMILY:

It’s been another great weekend for Steel City with a very successful Mini and Distance Meet at North Hills. This weekend we have six swimmers competing in the Northeastern Region IMX Championships held at the University of Maryland. Good luck to Bobby Kehl, Hazel McCowin, Noah Pickett, Maddie Puthoff, Caden Zhao and Jaden Zhao.

  • STAY HEALTHY! Please remember to stay bundled and keep your swimmers home if they are sick. The extra rest will benefit not only your athletes but also the teammates surrounding them.
  • USA SWIMMING REGISTRATION: We are doing a great job getting caught up on reregistrations. Remember that in order to compete or even be in the water to practice, your swimmer must be registered with USA Swimming.
  • MOON SITE MEMBERS:
    • MOON HS home meet on Tuesday, modified schedule
    • Cornell HS site will be utilized on Tuesday if available for our SF members
    • MOON SITE SPIRIT NIGHT – due to the lack of a practice facility on Tuesday, we ask all of our younger members to come and support many of our Steel City high school swimmers at the Moon home meet versus Quaker Valley. Diving will start at 6 and swimming around 6:30-6:40. Wear your black shirts and come cheer on your high school teammates from Moon, Quaker Valley, and New Castle.
  • SOUTH FAYETTE SITE MEMBERS;
    • The pool is currently down for maintenance so we have a modified practice schedule this week.
    • SR/JR follow Moon Site schedule as noted
    • Gold/Silver/Bronze/Copper - No practice Monday and Wednesday, no dryland this week, & please follow the schedule and the LOCATION noted for each day
    • Gold/Silver/Bronze/Copper - We are planning for practices at Cornell on Tuesday/Thursday. We are waiting to hear back from school administrators for confirmation. We will update you if the schedule changes.
  • MEETS
    • IMX meet this weekend, GOOD LUCK!
    • BPR 9-14 Single Age High Point entries are closed
    • HD Mini Champs/Distance are posted and entries close January 30 – we would love all of our 8 and unders to compete in this one!
    • 36th Annual Black History Month meet  in Washington, D.C. is posted for anyone interested – Aiden from the senior team has competed in this meet for several years and raves about it – it is open to all of our team though there are some minimal qualifying times
    • STEEL CITY LAST SPLASH will be March 19-20, stay tuned to your emails for volunteer signups
    • PLEASE remember to enter before the registration deadline if your swimmer is interested in competing in any meets – we do our best to accommodate those late to the party but we can not always guarantee the host will accept us.
  • BECOME AN OFFICIAL! We are so excited that we have several parents who have stepped up and are either in training or have already completed their training. We can never have enough officials so if you are interested in a much better view of the pool please contact Nate Hankinson our meet director at [email protected].
  • If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Coach Jeff at [email protected], or to Coach Clark at [email protected] if they are specific to the South Fayette site or to one of our amazing board members
  • HAVE AN AMAZING AND BLESSED WEEK!
