NWAA WEEKLY UPDATE – 11/15/2021

There are a few changes to this week at the BCC. The changes are as follows:

Tuesday 11/16

There will be no practices for all groups at the BCC due to the HS Swim Meet.

Saturday 11/20

Due to a Masters Swimming Challenge, the following will be the schedule at the BCC:

9:15-11:30am – Senior II

9:15-11:15am – Senior I

9:30-11:00am – Tiger Sharks

Due to the majority of the Makos participating in the TYR Super Finals, there will be no practice at the WLFC on Saturday morning; however, you are encouraged to attend practice at the BCC from 9:30-11:00am.

As soon as the specific meet information regarding the TYR Super Finals is sent from the host club, we will post it and will email everyone. Tentatively, plan on every swimmer wearing the light blue caps. In addition to that, they can wear their favorite NWAA team shirt on Friday evening, the new gray team t-shirt on Saturday and the new navy team t-shirt on Sunday. This is a reminder that this meet is a prelim/final meet. If your swimmer qualifies for the finals session on either Saturday or Sunday, they are expected to be attendance for the finals session.

Friday Night at the Races – Springdale, AR – Dec. 10 – Registration Deadline – November 23rd – This meet information is not yet available from the host. As soon as it is, it will be emailed out. If you are not able to attend any of the above meets, we encourage your swimmer to race here.

2022 NWAA Winter Invitational – Fayetteville, AR – Jan. 7-9 – Registration Deadline – December 28th – There are qualifying standards for this meet. The meet information is close to being ready as well as the event file. As soon as we have it, we will post it. An eligibility list will be posted as well.

Please mark your calendars for the 2022 NWAA Winter Invitational. It will be on Friday, January 7-Sunday, January 9 at the University of Arkansas. We are excited to host this meet again this year and will need the help of every member of NWAA to put on the best meet possible for all of the swimmers. More information about this meet will be sent out soon. We just want everyone to be aware of it coming up.

2021 ARKANSAS 10&Under All-Star Meet

Congratulations to a great meet for all of our 10&Under swimmers that participated in this meet! It was a ton of fun to watch the swimmers race well and cheer each other on! There are a TON of awards that our swimmers earned. They were not close to completing them on Saturday, but we will be given all of the awards at the TYR Super Final meet this weekend. They will be handed out in practice the following week. Again, congratulations to all for an awesome meet!

NWAA Sharks Hooded Shirts/Sweatshirts + Beanies are available to preorder until 11/21/21

Team Caps - If your swimmer is in need of team caps for the upcoming meet, please order from the link above by Wednesday, November 17 and put “need now” along with the Swimmers name/Practice group or add a note in the “add order note” section and I will get them to the coaches so they will have them at the meet for you.

NWAA Sharks Classifieds (this is also the name of the group!), a Facebook group was created if you have swim items you would like to sell or if you are in search of an item to purchase.  There are a few items listed currently (including two new girls team suits in size 26…perfect if your suit is on backorder!). Please add swim items that are collecting dust that someone else may be able to use!

You may have to login to Facebook first, but this should take you directly to the page:

2021 Team Shirts/Swim Caps

If your swimmer has not received their 2021 team shirts/caps:

BCC HH/GW - look for Beckey at practices

WLFC HH/GW - see Coach Kayleigh

Seniors/Makos/Tiger Sharks - email Mitzi

Please contact Mitzi at [email protected] with any questions.

It’s the season of giving and the NWAA Sharks want to give back. Toward the middle / end of the week, look for more detail around a clothing drive to benefit those in need. In the spirit of competition, a prize will be determined for the practice group collecting the most items!

Parents of graduating Seniors, Sunday evening you should’ve received an email from our Social Chair requesting input from your Senior on specific areas relating to the Annual Banquet. We want to hear from them and make sure they’re a part of planning the big event!

Dr. Parker Swiggart from Reform Chiropractic will be donating his services to NWAA every other Tuesday starting Tuesday, November 23rd. He was a youth athlete and wished that he would have received better care in order to remain on the field. He wants to give back to the community and we would like to thank Tiffany Bolding for this connection. Some information about this as well as the consent form is attached to this Weekly Update. A sign-up for Tuesday will be sent out soon. We are also working with the BCC for exactly where this will take place. More information will be emailed out this week. Stay tuned!

The minutes from the October Board Meeting have been approved and are posted on the Board of Directors page on our website.

Due to a few individuals entering the back door at the BCC that were not supposed to enter the facility from that entrance, the BCC will begin locking the back door as early as 4:45pm. We will be letting the groups in the back door prior to their practice. Please do your best to drop them off no earlier than 15 minutes prior to their start time as that is when a coach will open up the door. If there is an instance where you need to drop them off a little earlier than that, please communicate that with your swimmer’s lead group coach.

Also, please do your best to pick your swimmer up from practice as close to five minutes after practice as possible so that swimmers are not having to wait around. Again, we understand that things happen and if you will be running late, please either communicate with your swimmer or your swimmer’s lead group coach.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Thank you to Jenni Combs, NWAA Social/Communications Chair, and Megan Peters, NWAA Volunteer Coordinator, for running the New Parent Meeting.  The link to the recording is below:
