AQUAHAWG NEWSLETTER—April 11, 2019

SCHEDULE— Regular schedule April 11-18th

MESSAGE FROM YOUR COACHES:  We have had a great start to the season.  It has been nice to see everyone back at the pool ready to work hard.   At the start of each season, it is a good time to double check your swimmer’s equipment bag.  Many swimmers have lost, sized out of, or worn out their old gear.  Please talk to your swimmer and make sure they have all the required gear. For proper progression within the sport it is important that the swimmers have the required gear at every practice.

WILD 2 PARENTS-When you are able, please purchase a Speedo Bullet Head Snorkel for your swimmer.  Snorkels are an important tool in obtaining correct body position and maintaining proper swimming technique.  If your swimmer already has a snorkel, they DO NOT need to purchase a new one.  When purchasing a snorkel, we have found that snorkels without a value hold up better over time.

HAWG PARENTS- Coach Dawson wanted to let parents know that the swimmers in the Hawg group will be using snorkels once we move to the summer schedule.  The Hawgs will learn to use the snorkel during the practices in the 50 meter pool.  The 50 meter pool is the ideal place for the swimmers to become accustomed to swimming with a snorkel.

TEAM BANQUET–  We will hold our team banquet at the end of May!  Please be on the look out for the date, time and place in future newsletters.  In the meantime, please start sending pictures of your Aquahawgs for the team slideshow to:  Jana@aquahawgs.org

IMPORTANT MEET SIGN-UP REMINDER:  When you commit for meets, please remember that you are able to select the events you would like your swimmer to swim.  Pay attention to the maximum number of entries allowed by session and total for the meet.  Entry limits are different for every meet—you can find this information in the Meet Information (located on the Meet Home page). Please note that even if you select your swimmer’s’ events, it is still up to the coach’s discretion to make any changes.

If you would like the coaches to select the events for your swimmer, just commit to the meet.  If you are not planning to attend all the sessions of the meet you must indicate that in the notes section when you commit.  Otherwise, coaches will assume you are attending all the sessions and sign your swimmer up accordingly.

UPCOMING MEETS–

Aquahawgs Long Course Opener— We have opened the meet back up for sign up.  The last day to commit is today --Thursday, April 11th. We will send out timelines, warmup, and other important information once everything is finalized in the next couple weeks.

2019 JTST Aloha Meet (May 17-19)—This meet is at a great facility and open to all groups.  This is a fantastic chance to swim long course in a fast indoor facility. We encourage all AquaHawgs to attend!
