2021-2022 Training Group Structure

All swimmers will be placed into groups that will facilitate the best growth and success possible within our competitive swimming program.  The final placement is solely at the discretion of the coaching staff.


AquaHawgs Group Structure 2021-2022

Rookie Hawgs – Rookie Hawgs serves as a 3-day/week program for swimmers looking to refine swim skills.  The goal of the Rookie Hawgs is for swimmers to become proficient in all four competitive strokes, starts, and flip turns.  The Rookie Hawgs group will be geared towards 10 & under swimmers.

Seasons:

  • Fall Season – August 30, 2021-November 19, 2021
  • Winter Season – November 29, 2021-February 25, 2022 (No Practice 12/22-1/3)
  • Spring Season – February 28, 2022-May 20, 2022 (No Practice 3/18-3/28)

Practice Schedule:

  • Monday - 4:30-5:30 PM
  • Wednesday - 5:15-6:15 PM (HPER)
  • Saturday - 10:30-11:30 AM

Equipment:

  • Kickboard
  • Fins – Preferably TYR Crossblades

 

Jones Center Jellyfish – The Jones Center Jellyfish is a one/day per week program. They will meet on Sunday afternoons at the Jones Center.  The goal is for swimmers to improve their technique and maintain their stamina. The JC Jellyfish will be geared towards age 12 & under swimmers.

Seasons:

  • Fall Season – September 12, 2021-November 14, 2021
  • Winter Season – December 5, 2021-February 20, 2022 (No Practice 12/26 or 1/2)
  • Spring Season – February 28, 2022-May 27, 2022 (No Practice 3/20, 3/27, 4/17 or 5/8)

Practice Schedule:

  • Sunday - 2:00-3:00 PM

 

HPER Hurricanes – The HPER Hurricanes is a one/day per week program. They will meet on Wednesday evenings at the University of Arkansas HPER.  The goal is for swimmers to improve their technique and maintain their stamina. The HPER Hurricanes will be geared towards age 12 & under swimmers.

Seasons

  • Fall Season – September 8, 2021-November 17, 2021
  • Winter Season – December 1, 2021-February 23, 2022 (No Practice 12/22 or 12/29)
  • Spring Season – March 2, 2022-May 18, 2022 (No Practice 3/23)

Practice Schedule:

  • Wednesday - 6:15-7:15 PM

 

Masters – The AquaHawgs Masters Team is an adult training group for adults of all ages.  We will work on refining all swim skills in the water.  This group is a great option for triathletes looking to improve skills Masters swimmers will be registered with USA Masters.  Masters’ swimmers will be able to compete in Masters’ Meets and Dual Sanctioned USA Swimming Meets. 

Practice Schedule:

  • Monday - 5:30-6:30 AM
  • Tuesday - 5:30-6:30 AM
  • Wednesday - 7:00-8:00 PM
  • Thursday - 5:30-6:30 AM

 

Hawgs – The Hawgs training group will be geared towards swimmers ages 7-10. Swimmers should be able to perform the 4 competitive strokes correctly and are preparing for the next level of swimming, including workouts and competition.  In this group, swimmers will expand their knowledge of competitive swimming while refining their technical skills. Swimmers will be working towards achieving ARSI State Meet cuts and preparing for the next progression level.

Practice Schedule:

  • Monday - 5:30-7:00 PM (HPER)
  • Tuesday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Thursday - 4:30-5:45 PM
  • Friday - 4:30-5:30 PM

  • Fins – Preferably TYR Crossblades

 

Boss Hawgs – This group is for swimmers ages 10-12.  The focus of this group is on technique and race pace training. Swimmers are continuing to prepare for their advancement within the sport of swimming; while maintaining a variety of other interests.  Swimmers are working towards ARSI State Meet Cuts.  Swimmers will also meet with the coaching staff to determine the best track for their development.

  • Tuesday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Wednesday - 6:00-8:00 PM*
  • Thursday - 6:15-7:45 PM
  • Friday - 5:30-6:45 PM
  • Saturday - 8:45-10:30 AM*

  • Fins – Preferably TYR Crossblades
  • Paddles
  • Buoy – Standard Buoy
  • Snorkel

 

Wild Hawgs – Swimmers in this group should be between the ages of 13-15 In this group, we will focus on improving technique and race skills.  There will also be a focus on improving the swimmer’s aerobic base.  This group is designed to remain fun and keep swimmers engaged in the sport of swimming.

  • Monday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Tuesday - 5:30-7:30 PM (HPER)
  • Thursday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Friday - 6:00-7:15 PM
  • Saturday - 10:00-11:30 AM

  • Fins – Preferably TYR Crossblades
  • Paddles
  • Buoy – Standard Buoy
  • Snorkel

 

Junior Hawgs – Swimmers in this group should be between the ages of 12-14.  Focus in the group is on advanced technique, training, and preparing for the Senior Hawgs while achieving the highest level of competition.  In addition to these focus areas, swimmers must positively influence their teammates and training partners. They also show consistent improvement in this area during daily practice.

  • Monday - 5:30-7:00 AM & 5:30-8:00 PM
  • Tuesday - 5:30-7:30 PM (HPER)
  • Wednesday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Thursday - 4:30-6:15 PM
  • Friday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Saturday - 7:00-9:30 AM

  • Fins – Preferably TYR Hydroblades
  • Paddles
  • Buoy – Standard Buoy
  • Snorkel

 

Varsity Hawgs – Swimmers in this group are high school-aged and generally compete on their High School Swim Team.  In this group, we will focus on improving technique and race skills.  There will also be a focus on improving the swimmer’s aerobic base.  This program is designed to complement a swimmer's training with their high school program.

  • Monday - 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Tuesday - 5:30-7:00 AM
  • Wednesday - 6:00-7:30 PM
  • Thursday - 5:30-7:00 AM
  • Friday - 5:30-7:00 AM
  • Saturday - 10:00-11:30 AM

Senior Hawgs – The Senior Hawgs Group is the highest-level training group for our athletes.  Swimmers in this group are high school-aged.  For swimmers in this group, swimming is their primary extracurricular activity.   Swimmers in this group have a superior work ethic. While training in this group swimmers must be a positive influence on their teammates and training partners.  Swimmers in this group should be meeting with the Head Senior Coach to set goals and training plans.

  • Monday - 5:30-7:00 AM & 4:30-7:30 PM
  • Tuesday - 5:30-7:00 AM & 6:00-8:00 PM
  • Wednesday - 4:30-7:15 PM
  • Thursday - 5:30-7:00 AM & 6:00-8:00 PM
  • Friday - 5:30-7:00 AM & 4:30-6:00 PM
  • Saturday - 7:00-10:30 AM
