Summer 2023

Swimming starts:

Blue, Black and Senior Groups

All Practices will be at Proctor High School Pool in Utica

(Fall Season runs from late April to late July)

 

 

Practice Times are subject to change.

Currently, we will be starting with our Blue, Black, and Senior Groups.  If there is space and interest in the Red White, or Grey Groups we will open them.

 

 

Age Group - Blue Level - 4 days 

·                  Focus on skill development and technique in strokes

·                  Starts and turns.

·                  Speed will be developed.

·                  Approximately 50% of work is kicking.

·                  It is recommended that swimmer attend at least 2 nights a week while attending 3 days a week regularly is prefered.

Criteria:

·                 

·                  Focus on skill development and technique in strokes

·                  Starts and turns.

·                  Speed is not the focus.

Criteria:

·                  25 yds proficient free w/ rhythmic breathing

·                  25 yds proficient backstroke

·                  appropriate listening skills

·                  understanding of breast pull and kick-recommended but not required

·                  understanding of butterfly-recommended but not required

 

Equipment list: Goggles, Clinton Cuda Cap, fins, T-shirt.

 

 

Age Group - Black Level – 5 days 

·                  Continued focus on skill development and endurance (technique first, speed later).

·                  Basic interval training/aerobic conditioning.

·                  Compete in “long events” for age group. 25-50% of work is kicking.

·                  It is recommended that swimmer attend at least 3 nights a week while attending 4 days a week regularly.

Criteria:

·                  300 free with proficient breathing, kick and turns

·                  100 each stroke with legal turns and kicks (speed will be a factor)

·                  200 kick of each stroke (speed will be a factor)

Equipment list: Goggles, Clinton Cuda Cap, Fins and T-shirt.  Team Jacket highly recommended.

 

 

Senior Level –6 days

·                  Entry into the Senior Level is a privilege not a right

·                  Swimmers should be ready to make a greater time commitment and handle a heavier practice load.

·                  Positive attitude and willingness to work hard are required

·                  It is recommended that swimmers attend at least 3 nights a week while attending 4-5 days a week regularly.  

Criteria:

·                  Appropriate attitude

·                  Recognize position of being active role model for entire team

·                  Have and maintain a positive attitude toward training and racing

·                  Be prepared to train at highest level possible on daily basis

·                  Be on time to practice and in water when told

·                  10x 100 free @ 1:30

·                  10x100 kick @ 155

·                  200 each stroke proficiently

·                  Swimmer should be prepared to attend all practices.

·                  High school swimming season-should come once a week.

Equipment list: Goggles, Clinton Cuda Cap, Fins, Paddles, snorkel, T-shirt and Team Jacket

Scholastic (Those that swim Varsity/Modified Swimming ONLY)

Independent (Those that swim Varsity/Modified Swimming but use Clinton as place of practice)

Fee is whatever Level applies to you.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Age Group - Red Level - 2 days 

·                  This is our beginning group (pre competitive)

·                  Focus on skill development and technique in strokes

·                  Progression for racing starts.

·                  Speed is not the focus.

Times to be determined after registration depending on enrollment numbers

Criteria

  •                 Comfortable in water
  •                Swim 1 length of pool ( 25 yards)

Equipment list: Goggles, Clinton Cuda Cap – You must wear if you have long hair

 

 

Age Group - White Level 

·                  Focus on skill development and technique in strokes

·                  Starts and turns.

·                  Speed is not the focus.

Criteria:

·                  50 yds proficient free w/ rhythmic breathing

·                  50 yds proficient backstroke

·                  50 yds proficient free and back kick

·                  forward dive

·                  appropriate listening skills

·                  understanding of breast pull and kick

·                  understanding of fly kick

Equipment list: Goggles, Clinton Cuda Cap(girls, boys optional), T-shirt

 

Age Group - Grey Level - 

·                  Focus on skill development and technique in strokes

·                  Starts and turns.

·                  Speed is not the focus.

Criteria:

·                  50 yds proficient free w/ rhythmic breathing

·                  50 yds proficient backstroke

·                  50 yds proficient free and back kick

·                  forward dive

·                  appropriate listening skills

·                  understanding of breast pull and kick

·                  understanding of butterfly
