Board of Directors

President/Swim Meet Committee Chair - Melissa Britt

Melissa is the mom of 3 swimmers. Melissa and her husband love the Aquakids because the team gives their boys an outlet to be active and to compete in a sport they love. Because of all the benefits they have received from swim and from Aquakids specifically, Melissa is excited to give back to the club in service and leadership. She has always been highly involved in the boys' activities, and because of her job as a project manager has a skill set that is well-matched to serve by organizing and executing plans. Melissa is a certified Administrative Official (AO), and enjoys helping to plan and execute meets and activities. Melissa would love for Aqaukids to be a club where all swimmers, regardless of skill level, feel welcome and supported, and she hopes that our club can recruit young swimmers to join the club and become Aquakids for life!

Vice President/Registration Committee Co-Chair - Renae Espinosa

Renae Espinosa and her husband Robert are Arkansas natives.  Renae moved to Conway from NE Arkansas to attend college at UCA, and started working for Acxiom her last year of school. She decided to make Conway home. Her family attends and serves at New Life Church and loves being part of the community. Renae has 4 children who keep her busy with all their unique interests. Renae's family joined Aquakids about 6 years ago. Riley, one of Renae's daughters, saw a replay of Olympic trials when she was 6, pointed at the TV, and said “I want to do that!”  She was so little, and it was a struggle to make it down the lane but she did it and jumped out smiling ear to ear.  It has been a joy to watch her grow because of this program.  Rena has seen coaches and parents invest in all levels of swimmers over the years. She loves the Aquakids family and enjoys being able to serve the team as a board memeber.

Secretary - Tara Stainton

My name is Tara Stainton and I am a vegetable and cut-flower farmer. My husband, Robert, and I have two boys, Milan (11) and Gus (8), and have lived on our farm outside of Vilonia for 17 years. Our boys joined Aquakids in late January and it has turned into a family affair. My husband completed his stroke and turn training to become a meet official in early June and joined the masters group on the team as well. He and his father are both swimmers, and his father has rarely missed watching a practice since the boys joined Aquakids. I was not a swimmer growing up and am very new to the sport but I am a team player and am very involved in all of our kids' activities so when asked to consider joining the board, I was happy to do my part. We have been homeschooling our boys for the last few years and joining Aquakids turned out to be not only a great physical activity for them, and a great opportunity to learn to be on a team, it has provided a social aspect to their lives that we are thrilled about. I feel like Aquakids is an opportunity that is available to us because of the work done by past parents and I want to be part of the team's continued success for our boys and for kids in the future. I do have a little bit of experience working on a board. For three years, I was the founding president of a board of directors for a cooperative of small farms in central Arkansas. I don't know that I bring a unique skill set to this position but I'm a hard worker and I pull my weight. I look forward to our family being part of the Aquakids swim team for many years to come.

Treasurer/Registration Committee Co-Chair - Samantha Carpenter

Samantha Carpenter's daughter has been swimming with AquaKids for five years. Serving AquaKids is truly a family affair. Samantha has served on the board for 3 1/2 years. Her husband, Jeff, is an official with USA Swimming and has worked in this capacity for the past four years. He has spent many hours officiating USA Swimming, high school, NCAA, and AAU swim meets. Samantha is an assistant principal at Virtual Arkansas, the state's supplemental virtual school that partners with public schools. Before her career as an educator, she was a journalist for nearly ten years.

Apparel Committee Chair - Laura Frizzell

My name is Laura Frizzell and I have been involved in swimming for 7 years. I was born and raised in Conway and my husband (Richard) is from Pine Bluff. We both work full-time…I work at Conway Corporation and my husband works at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. We have two sons; Ryan is a law student at Bowen School of Law in Little Rock and Beau (our swimmer) is a junior at Conway High School. Beau decided he wanted to try out swimming when he was 9 years old. We needed a sport that was more individual based, but still had a team aspect. He began swimming for Conway Crocs and thrived in that environment. We slowly learned the ropes…. how to put on that swim cap, how to write events on his arm, how to be a great volunteer and how to cheer loud…. because can they really hear us underwater?! We joined Aquakids in the fall of 2018 when Beau was 12 so that he would be able to practice swimming year-round. We were nervous at first since he had only done recreational swim teams, but he quickly made friends and his swim times began improving. It was a win-win! Beau currently swims Aquakids, Conway Crocs and for the Conway High Swim Team. Without Aquakids, he would not have an option for year-round swimming. This program provides Beau with a safe place to swim so that he can continue to improve. We are lucky to have such a great program in our town and I hope we encourage other families to join in on the fun!

We have been apart of the Aquakids team off and on since Amelia was 6 years old. We love this team and the friendships we have made along the way. I enjoy helping out in any way I can and hope to do even better on the board.

Director of Fundraising - Sammi Hantz

My name is Sammi Hantz, and I am going on year four of being an Aquakids mom. I am a 3rd grade teacher for the Conway School District and will be starting year 7 of teaching this year! I have a wonderful husband, 2 beautiful daughters, and a very old and loving yellow lab. My daughter, Caitlyn, is 10 years old and is on the blue team. She has grown so much and has learned so much from all the coaches in her time as an Aquakid. When she first joined the team, she was beginning the 2nd grade and was such a tiny swimmer. Now she is qualifying for State! My youngest daughter, Harper, is 4 years old and is counting down the days until she can be an Aquakid just like big sis! The team means a great deal to my family, and I would love to be a part of helping it grow and flourish.
