Lee Smothers Head Coach

Jets Aquatic Club Head Coach Lee Smothers has been committed to excellence in swimming his entire life.  As a founding member of the CASC Racers, Lee began to make a name for himself in the swimming world.  Lee excelled as an age-group swimmer being ranked in the top ten in America in butterfly at multiple points in his career with his highest ranking being second in the nation.  He has been an Arkansas state record holder, earned Central Zone championship titles in both the 50 and 100 butterfly, has held multiple team records, and has qualified for and competed in sectional and NCSA championships.

Coach Lee has continued his successful aquatics career in the coaching arena.  Since becoming a USA-S certified coach in 2019, Coach Lee has coached multiple zone, sectional, and futures championship qualifiers, as well as 12 state champions.  He has served as a head site coach for three separate locations, coached multiple summer league teams with memberships exceeding 200 swimmers, and managed several different aquatics facilities.  Lee’s love for the sport is evident every time he steps on the deck by the way he interacts with his swimmers.  Through positive coaching and teaching life lessons through the sport, Lee aims to pass the torch to the next generation.

Coach Lee is a graduate of Central Baptist College.  When he’s away from the pool, Lee continues to enjoy working with children by serving as a youth pastor for his church.  He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Makaleigh, and their two dogs.
