The Midnight Sun Swim Team is excited to announce Patrick Burda as our new Head Coach! Coach Burda is scheduled to take the reins of MSST on August 5th! We are excited about the new leadership he will bring to our swimming program this season.

Coach Burda has been the head coach of the Ketchikan Killer Whales since August 2014 when he made the move from Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up in Brooklyn, Ohio and attending Brooklyn High School Patrick got his start in swimming first as an athlete on his summer recreational swim team and then as a coach in 2002 of the same team, he grew up swimming on. Patrick attended Cleveland State University, a Division I school, where he was a member of the swim team in addition to studying Film and Video Productions.

Patrick’s philosophy is that the essence of all successful and injury free swimming is taught through an efficient stroke learned through drills taught from a young age. Maximizing the efficiency of every stroke taken must be a priority and results in years of continued success in the pool. Passion and dedication to their sport and team are important traits that swimmers learn and take into the real world after swimming. Teaching swimmers to be disciplined in their commitment is an opportunity to learn about life and shows how swimming’s value is more than just in sport.

We are looking forward to welcoming Coach Burda to Fairbanks! Stayed tuned for more Head Coaching updates!
