Jack Luken leads Gold Medal at the Sectional Championships with Two Top Eight Finishes

Gold Medal Swim Club had some outstanding performaces at the Western Zone Sectional Championships at Phoenix Swim Club. The team had 12 swimmers at the meet, with 10 of them competing for the first time at this higher level meet.  Gold Medal placed 16th among a group of most of the top teams in the Western Zone, which includes all the Western states but California. All nine of our relays scored points for the team with the womens's 800 free relay of Kinsey Miller, Ava Elliott, Clare Luken and Abby Raclaw placing 11th for our highest relay finish.

Jack Luken achieved six best times, and achieved a new Future cut in the 500 free. Jack placed fifth in the 1650 and 7th in the 500 free, as well as placing in the 200 free.

Ava Elliott placed in the 200 fly and 400 IM. She achieved best times in the 400 IM and on relay splits in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles.

Colin Cambell placed in the 400 IM and 1650, and swam best times in the 400 IM, 200 IM, 1650, and the 100 fly.

Reed Lucero placed in the 100 breast and swam best times in 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 breast, and 100 breast.

Clare Luken placed in the 1650 and 500 free and swam best times in both events, and the 1000 free on her way to the 1650.

Finn Crawford placed in the 500 free and swam best times in the 500, 100 free, 100 fly, 1650, and 200 fly.

Ryne Davenport swam best times in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free.

Kinsey Miller-swam best times in the 100 back, 200 back and 100 free.

Abby Raclaw swam best times in the 1650 free and 500 free. Her 500 was a new Sectional cut.

Bobby Sander-swam best times in the 200 free and 100 fly and had a best time relay split in the 100 free.His 100 fly was a new Sectional cut.

Jason Sugihara swam best times in the 200 free and 100 fly and had a best time relay split in the 50 free.

Elle Campbell swam a best time relay split in the 100 free after doing all best times at the Senior State meet earlier.

I look forward to a great meet this summer, with even more swimmers qualifying.
