Nicholas Reed Head Coach

I am super excited to be the Snow Sharks new Head Coach.I’ve been swimming as long as I can remember and playing water polo since the age of 9. I participated in the Olympic development program all four years of high school as well as junior olympics in water polo. I was a varsity swimmer in high school and competed at the State level, I also competed in club swimming for Sun Devil Aquatics and then Mesa Aquatics Club. I have traveled across the country for numerous swim meets and water polo tournaments, and I was recruited to swim at Division I St. Francis Brooklyn College with Academic and Athletic scholarships. I studied biology for two years, then transferred to NAU, here in my home state of Arizona, and finished my degree in Biology. During my first season of college swimming I experienced recurring problems in my left arm from previous injuries and had to have surgery done mid season. I spent a lot of time thinking about how I would need to change things in my daily life and swimming to accommodate this injury. My second year swimming went much better and I was able to get back to all of my old times, but my arm could not handle the workload due to an underlying condition. I ended up transferring after the school year to NAU to finish my degree and focus on my health. Because of my background with injuries, Biology, and Water Polo, I try to make sure that all swimmers actually understand what they are doing in the water. When they understand what they are doing in the water and can fix improper techniques quickly, they can not only get faster sooner, but avoid injuries, and learn to find solutions to problems. I am looking forward to continuing to coach everyone and help them improve. I try to focus on not just coaching the swimmer, I try to coach the person as well. Thank you all for trusting me with coaching your kids throughout the years. I have been coaching with the Snow Sharks for just short of 6 years now and have loved it, and I look forward to the upcoming years!

Sydney Logan Competitive and Lesson Coach

I was a competitive swimmer for Arizona Swimming Gauchos in Phoenix for 13 years. I was also a 4 year varsity and state swimmer in high school for the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Now out of the water, I am studying biology at NAU with an emphasis in Botany, so I love my plants! My goal for my swimmer is to understand how mental swimming is as it is physical. I make it a point to explain both the mental and physical challenges within practice and meets and how we can overcome them. Many of my life skills, such as communication, problem solving, and dealing with self doubt, came from my experience with swimming and I hope to pass on similar beneficial life skills.
