GSC Updates

Scott Griffith

Hello GSC Families!

Hope all is well, everyone is staying sane, active, and healthy.  A few updates as we move forward through this difficult time....

  • GSC is waiving all fees for any remaining service hours for 2019-2020 season.  For those of you who completed your service hours, THANK YOU! Since numerous opportunities to complete your hours were canceled, there just doesn't seem like a fair way to charge anyone.
  • For those of you participating in the at home dryland program, please review the disclaimer below,

As with all exercise programs, when using our exercise videos, you need to use common sense.  To reduce and avoid injury, you will want to check with your doctor before beginning any fitness program.  By performing any fitness exercises, you are performing them at your own risk.  Glacier Swim Club will not be responsible or liable for any injury or harm you sustain as a result of our fitness program, online fitness videos, or information shared on our website.  This includes emails, videos, social media, and text.  Thanks for your understanding.

  • If you are continuing to pay your monthly dues, please request a receipt (perhaps wait until we are offering pool practices again) for your donation.  In case you have not heard, up to $300 of your donation to GSC is now deductible on your taxes whether you itemize or not.
    • The CARES Act includes a new $300 'nonitemizer' tax deduction for 2020.
    • All eligible donations made in 2020 will go toward this deduction, up to $300 in total.
    • You are eligible for this deduction even if you do not itemize your taxes.
    • This means that when you donate to Glacier Swim Club you will be eligible to receive a tax break of up to $300 in addition to the standard deduction.
  • GSC will be offering some zoom meetings, starting next week.  Look for more info soon.  Eventually, there will be specific topics, but we will start with just giving staff and swimmers a chance to see each other and interact...check up on how everyone is doing.
  • Fitter and Faster is offering a series of online shows on a variety of swimming topics.  Schedule to join an upcoming live show, or replays are available.  As far as I know, these shows are free.  Mindset Monday's show is titled '6 steps to more confident swimmer' hosted by Chloe Sutton and Tyler Clary.
  • Alaska Swimming has asked swimmers to join the Pacer Challenge.

I think that is it for now.  I will be contacting you through email, Facebook, and/or Band next week regarding the Zoom meetings.

Take care and stay healthy,

Coach Scott
