Scott Griffith GSC Head Coach

Scott has been the GSC Head Coach since 2004.  Prior to coming to Juneau, Scott served as the Head Coach and Aquatics Director for the Waynesboro Family YMCA in Virginia.  Scott has produced numerous national level swimmers at both locations.  He was awarded Alaska Senior Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, and 2009.  He was awarded Alaska Age Group Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2020.

Since his arrival in Juneau, the GSC record board has literally be re-written.  Many of his former swimmers have, or are now competing, at the collegiate level.  His passion for the sport and every athlete on the team brought GSC numerous state titles and an almost regular top 3 finish.

Lisa has been a GSC coach since 2007. She has been associated with GSC since fall of 1998, when Kristin (daughter) joined team. Kristin swam four years with JDHS, went on to swim  at Northern Arizona University, coached a year at GSC and is now an active open water competitor. Trevor (son) joined team in June 2003 and swam four years with TMHS. Lisa was a competitive swimmer for 10 years in Georgia. She has taught swimming on and off  for the past 30 something years.

Lisa enjoys coaching and teaching swimming because the kid's enthusiasim for being in the water and learning new skills is a joy to be a part of.  Helping kids to learn, improve their strokes and be part of a team is  highly rewarding. Lisa is thrilled to have the opportunity to coach GSC swimmers and be a part of the GSC family.  Lisa is also a USMS Coach and a Red Cross WSI Instructor with CBJ.

Lisa works part-time with Juneau School District. She also has two adult sons living in Juneau and two dogs to keep exercised. Lisa does manage to get in the pool to swim a few laps every now and then.
