Who?

The Tucson J Masters Swimming Program serves adult athletes (18+) seeking to swim in a group setting. Swimmers ideally have basic knowledge of all four strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle). Athlete goals can include participating in competition, advancing health and fitness, and seeking a social group of peers with like interests.

Athletes attending morning practices do not need to be registered members of US Masters Swimming.

Athletes attending evening practices must be registered members of US Masters Swimming.

Athletes under 18 and/or still in high school should reach out to Tucson J Stingrays swim Team Head Coach Marika Hodge for more information on our age-group and senior-level USA Swimming club team.

What?

The Tucson J Masters Swimming Program consists of coach-led practices. Practice focus and distance vary throughout the week. Athletes learn and develop technique, speed, and endurance in all four strokes and the individual medley. Additionally, athletes will work on turns, starts, and finishes in a directed and organized practice environment.

When?

Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays: 5:30-7am

Saturdays: 7-8:30am

Stay tuned for PM practice options, open to athletes who are members of US Masters Swimming (USMS)!

Where?

We practice at the Tucson Jewish Community Center at 3800 E River Road, Tucson, AZ 85718.

If you are driving to the Aquatics Facility, you will want to enter from River Road, by the Tucson Hebrew Academy. Parking is available in the North lot, and the best entrance to use is through the door under the blue awning with a big J on it (in the southwest corner of the parking lot).

Why?

There are so many advantages to joining our program! Whether you are looking for fitness in the pool, a social group to swim with, or a more competitive swim team program down the road, the Tucson J Masters Program is the place to be!

Requirements?

Athletes do not need to be members of the Tucson JCC to participate in our program.

At present, athletes do not need to be members of US Masters Swimming to participate in this program.

Athletes must be willing to share a lane with up to five other swimmers. Also, please remember we practice in a facility that is used by many different people for different purposes.

Registration Information

For 2022, registration for the Masters program is broken down to the day. In other words, you may select and pay for the days you plan to participate. Practices are $5 for members of the J and $7 for guests of the J.

You can register in person at the Tucson JCC or online, here.

Beginning in 2023, registration will revert back to a monthly-dues process. Athletes registered for the month may attend as many or as few practices during that month as they would like. Monthly dues will be $55 for members of the J and $70 for guests of the J.

Each month has a maximum capacity of 40 athletes.

2023 registration will open in December 2022.
