MEET WEEKEND: Our swimmers will be racing at two different meets this weekend.  Our Varsity and Senior swimmers will head up to Moraga, while the rest of the team will be at Harbor High School in Aptos/Santa Cruz.  To all those who RSVPed for these events, look for details coming later this week.  We will need help with timing at both meets.  Be sure to check the “events” page for shifts.  The meets can not run without timers!!!

CREEK CLEAN UP: Join us as we partner with the South Bay Clean Creek Coalition on Saturday, October 30 from 10-noon to clean up the Los Gatos Creek at Blackford School. No special skills or tools needed – just a desire to restore our creeks and rivers to their former glory. SBCCC supplies the gloves, bags and trash grabbers on the day of the cleanup. Every little bit helps to reclaim and restore our creeks and rivers.  This is a great opportunity for parents to serve along with your kids as we do good for the environment and our community.  All should wear sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves.  Please don't wear anything that you are afraid of ruining!  Signing in and waivers will be done by scanned QR codes. Swimmers ages 15 and under should attend with a parent, but we hope ALL will come with a parent, sibling/friend to help clean our creek.

STAYING WARM:  The cooler weather is here and it’s important that our swimmers are prepared before and after practice.  Sweatshirts/jackets with hoods, beanies/warm hats and shoes are essential to have for after practice.  Many like to purchase team parkas.  While our traditional one from TruWest is currently unavailable, the one from SwimOutlet looks to be available now.

Some have asked about wetsuits for their swimmers to keep warm during practice.  While wetsuits are wonderful for the ocean, there are very few that provide enough mobility for swimmers to practice their proper strokes.  If you do find a wetsuit that has lycra sleeves (instead of neoprene) and ends above the knees, that could work.  You will want to beware of “rubbies” from there the suit irritates the skin at the joints.
