Jon McKay Coach

Jon has been swimming for the past 15 years.  He swam with the Orcas from 2005 to 2010 and is now with Pacific Coast Swimming (PCS), training for the Olympics in the 10 km Open Water event.  He represented team Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima Peru, and at the 2019 Open Water Swimming World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.  He recently completed a double major at the University of Victoria in Economics and Environmental Studies, and is now taking on a post grad diploma in Finance through Camosun College.  Some of Jon’s best swimming memories were hanging out in the Orcas’ tent and playing games with the swimmers.  Welcome back to the Orcas and welcome back to your second season as Coach!

Lauren Crisp Coach

Lauren has been involved in the sport of swimming as both an athlete and coach for 15 years.  Born and raised in Victoria, she started swimming competitively for Pacific Coast Swimming in 2006.  She has just finished her second year at UVic studying Elementary Education and competing for the University of Victoria Vikes swim team.  Lauren has coached and instructed with PCS and through the Red Cross at multiple recreation centres in Victoria.  Soon after Lauren started swimming, she discovered a love for the positive atmosphere and the energy that new and evolving swimmers bring to the pool deck.  She has been coaching with the Oak Bay Orcas since May of 2020, and is looking forward to continuing to help all our swimmers discover a mutual passion for the sport of swimming!

Sarah Grundy Coach

Born and raised in Calgary, Sarah has been involved in the world of swimming both as an athlete and a coach for 15 years. She swam competitively for the Glencoe Gators for 13 years, and has coached for a total of 8 years for both the Gators and Pacific Coast Swimming.  Sarah has recently graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Education majoring in English and Physical Education, and is currently working as teacher on call for the Sooke School District.  One of Sarah's favourite things about coaching is seeing the excitement on the swimmers’ faces when they surpass their goals, and the fun and positive energy each individual brings to the team.  She is very excited to be part of the Oak Bay Orcas, and to help swimmers develop their potential while building a lifelong love of swimming.

Lauren Mosher Coach

Lauren loves all things swimming!  She has been a competitive swimmer for nine years and a swim coach for eight. Lauren started as a summer swimmer with the Sidney Piranhas back in 2012. During her five years with the club, Lauren broke 15 club records, multiple regional records and won numerous provincial medals.  Now, Lauren competes for Dalhousie University and is completing a degree in Recreation Management. As a coach, Lauren has worked with a variety of age groups and ability levels.  Her experience includes coaching for the Sidney Piranhas, Island school groups, and the Stelly's Secondary swim team.  Lauren joined the Orcas coaching staff last summer and is excited to be returning for another great season.
