Nic Sunderland-Baker

On Saturday, November 20, 24 of the Prince Rupert Aquatic Club’s senior swimmers raced against 20 of the Terrace Blueback’s senior swimmers here at our pool in a college-style ‘duel-meet’. The Prince Rupert club came away with more points but the Bluebacks seniors improved their best times in their races and some qualified for the BC northern-and-interior divisional championship meet in Penticton at the end of January.

The Bluebacks who participated in the meet were Laura Billson, Matthew Block, Cameron Constantinescu, Jakob and Jakob Coosemans, Camryn Costain, Alana Dams, Noah Grielens, Emma Kuirinlahti, Amy McKay, Brook-Lynn Meijer, Carlee Metzger, Nevaeh Mumford, Brooklynn Simms, Gabriel and Oliver Ungehojer and Sequoia Wood.

Some of the most significant time-improvements by Bluebacks swimmers follow. Jakob Coosemans improved his 50m backstroke time by 12 seconds. Sequoia Wood improved her 100 breast time by six seconds and her 100 free time by nine seconds. Emma Kuirinlahti took 17 seconds off of her 200 breaststroke time. Carlee Metzger took eight seconds off her 100 free time, nine seconds off her 50 fly time and 18 seconds off her 200 IM time. Cameron Constantinescu took 20 seconds off his best time in the 50m butterfly. Noah Grielens improved his 50 breast time by 12 seconds and his 100 free time by 25 seconds. Sophie Coosemans improved her 100m individual medley time by seven seconds, her 100 back time by 15 seconds and her 200 free time by 30 seconds! Nevaeh Mumford took 36 seconds off her 200 IM time! Camryn Costain took 15 seconds off her 100 fly time and improved her 400 free time by 56 seconds!

The Bluebacks look ahead to more best times and attendance from our entire membership for our home meet on December 10-12.
