BEST Swimmers at High School State Meet

Congratulations to all of our BEST swimmers who participated in the Mississippi High School Activities Association state swim meet this past weekend in Tupelo.  Here are some highlights from our team.

BEST had over 100 splashes (swims) in the meet from 52 swimmers representing their high school teams.  52 of those swims made it back to finals, 19 of those finished in the top 3, and 3 of those (Caitlin Chandler, Class I Girls 200 Individual Medley and Gabrielle Ivey, Class II Girls 200 Freestyle and Class II Girls 100 Backstroke) won the event.

We would also like to recognize Gabrielle Ivey of the Ocean Springs High School swim team setting 2 new state high school records in her events.  The MHSAA Overall and Class II Girls 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:52.62 breaking the old MHSAA record (1:53.02) which stood for 17 years and the MHSAA Overall and Class II Girls 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.95 breaking the previous MHSAA mark (58.09) which stood since 2003.

Let’s keep the momentum going for our state meet here in February!
