Beach 3 This group sent 2 athletes to the 2023 All Star Festival in Las Vegas - Hailey Kuo and Patrick Wang. Patrick representing the White Team and Hailey on the Blue. By all reports the kids had a great time meeting new kids from other teams and coming together to compete (which is one of the main objectives of this meet). I was not in attendance at this meet, but by the looks of the results, and accounts from the kids, Day 1 was strong and then we faded...

Word on the street was that Pacific Swimming was fixing to end 13 years of dominance by Southern California Swimming (SCS) at the Pacific Coast All-Star Meet in Snohomish, Washington and that is exactly what they did. By winning many close races with outstanding underwater efforts and disciplined pacing and breathing, the Pacific Swimming team ended SCS's lengthy reign. Three BCS athletes represented SCS at the 2023 edition of this meet versus the best and brightest from Pacific Swimming, Oregon Swimming and Pacific Northwest Swimming: Gabi Brito, Peyton Kuo and...

Beach Cities took two swimmers to Austin Texas last week for Winter Juniors and it was an incredible week of racing! Bella Brito and Madie Malone were our 2 lone swimmers at Winter Juniors. After arriving on Tuesday and watching some incredibly fast relays on Wednesday, the girls were ready to race on Thursday! I am incredibly proud of both girls, they represented BCS with pride, they were receptive to feedback and they walked away with many valuable lessons. I can't wait to see what they can do as we...

Winter Age Group Championships @ San Clemente (December 9-11, 2022) It was a wild one at WAG Champs in San Clemente last weekend, with Beach Cities Swimming and Aquazot neck and neck in the team title chase most of the way. In the end, AZOT came out on top, but we fought hard to the end and ended up only 116.5 points short. In spite of bone-chilling morning and evening temperatures and one heck of a storm on Sunday, our athletes put on a remarkable display of positive attitudes and...

Last weekend Beach Cities took 42 of our age group athletes to Short Course Finale, and they came to race! The enrergy thoughout the day was impeccable and the racing was even better. Added bonus were the relays, it’s always a great time when we see our age group athletes compete with their teammates in relays. The power of a relay swim is real and last Saturday did not disappoint! Congratulations swimmers your coaches are proud of you and you should all be proud of yourselves! Marlin A Marlin A...

The team did some really nice work this past weekend in Riverside and Santa Clarita. It was super hot in both destinations and the competition was too! BCS came away with a 6th place finish overall at Sectionals, not bad for only having 11 kids at the meet. Best times were achieved, new cuts were made and we were able to put together 4 relays that qualified for Junior Nationals on the Women’s side! Ryan Haddad - Ryan wrapped up his stint in CA with a very successful meet, grabbing...

Junior Olympics (July 21-24, 2022) Every heat was a “Hot Heat” in Riverside last weekend, whether you were referring to the quality of racing or the air temperature (not to mention a couple of nearby fires). Despite the challenging conditions, our young women and men raced bravely and posted some amazing results! Among the highlights: Anderson Bennett with his first Sectionals cut (200 Breast) Gabi Brito with her first Futures cut (50 Free) Meagan Gordon with her first Sectionals cut (50 Free) Peyton Kuo with his first Futures cut (50...

Pacific Committee Championships (July 15-17, 2022) By now, you’ve all seen the fabulous report on our meet by one of our Meet Directors, Mel Kuo. This may have been the most fun and well-run meet the Pacific Committee has ever offered and it is all thanks to you, BCS Family! The racing did not disappoint, either, yielding 17 new Summer JO cuts and a plethora of new best times and gutsy efforts. Overall, the team finished in 3rd (combined), with the Men in 2nd and the Women in 3rd. Congratulations,...

June Age Group Championships (June 17-20, 2022) Summer championship racing is underway! BCS finished in fourth place in the combined team competition at the June Age Group Championships, just 71.5 points from a podium finish and a reminder of the importance of relays (lost some valuable points there due to a few early takeoffs - learning moments!). Our Women placed third overall and the Men fifth. Speaking of relays, our 11-12 Girls team of Eryn Arnold, Gabi Brito, Meagan Gordon and Kayla Sun nearly rewrote the entire BCS 11-12 Girls...
