BCS vs. Alpha Dual Meet Recap

March 2021 BCS vs. Alpha Dual Meet Recap
On Friday, March 26, many of our athletes stepped on the blocks for LIVE competition for the first time in more than a year and they were clearly ready to rip!  Congratulations to all who attended the dual meet vs. Alpha.  There were so many great swims (see results below) and your coaches were thrilled to be able to watch you race again.  We hope that many of you were able to enjoy the livestream of the event.  Shout out to Alpha Aquatics for running such a great event and special thanks to our own BCS parent volunteers!  We hope to do it again, soon!

Beach 1
Practice.  Everything we do in life is practice.  We talk about this frequently in the Beach 1 group.  We practice, we mess up, we learn, we get better, then we practice some more.  We practiced the meet warm-up and raced every Tuesday leading up to the dual meet so we would be ready on the day of the competition.  Then, with a shorter than expected time for meet warm-up, we had to change the warm-up to fit the time constraints.  The group calmly adjusted and, after an early hiccup or two, put together a very focused and skill-oriented effort to get ready to race.  To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from such a young and inexperienced group, but they absolutely crushed it and the results below speak for themselves!  The day wasn’t without learning experiences, to be sure (there were a couple DQs and some almost missed their races), but even in the face of that adversity, their effort and attitude was top notch.  I am very proud to be able to coach this group and I am really excited about the practice we will do between now and our next competition!

Beach 2

What a great first meet in a year for the Beach 2 swimmers! We have been working really hard the past couple months! Keep up the good work and attention to details you tiny ones! Look forward to future meets!

Swim spotlights!

Adelei Mosteller - 100 Free/50 Free! Adelei dropped in both events and looked really good!

Santiago Baranda - Santi had a great meet! Dropping in all of his events! I was impressed mostly by his 100 free!

Tristan Hickmon - This was tristan's first meet with BCS! She swam her heart out and dropped in all of her events!

Kiki Hill - Kiki has been working really hard at practice and it showed at the meet! Dropped in all her events!

Kate Lanzdorf - Kate was my surprise swimmer of the meet! She put in times that was shocking to me! But wasn't so shocking cause she is one of the hardest workers at practice!

Zoe ZOLO Lewis - Zolo had a great meet! We have been working really hard on her freestyle at practice and it showed with her 12 second drop in the 100 free!

Mazi Adams - Mazies attention to detail is unlike any other! She always wants to do it correctly! And it paid off in all her swims!

Beach 3
Like Beach 1, the Beach 3 group had been racing almost every Tuesday during the pandemic to get a taste of that competitive fire and to prepare for the day that competition would return.  Those days are always fun, but this event felt different.  It felt fantastic to be on deck at a sanctioned meet for the first time in many moons and, apparently, the energy I felt was being felt by everyone because the performances by the athletes were out of this world!  Sure, many of them are bigger/stronger than they were a year ago, so some gains were anticipated, but any expectations that I had going into the meet were completely blown out of the water!  Congratulations on a great effort.  I loved watching you all race.  Can’t wait until the next one!
