Day two of SCS Club Championships kicked off today at East LA College and Beach Cities Swimming had a great showing from multiple training groups. The day kicked off with Kai Scarlet and Ryan O'Shaughnessey both swimming hard and strong in the Boys 5-10 year old 200 IM. Ryan raced to a 20th place finish in prelims with a time of 2:39.46. Southern California Swimming kicked of the 2014 Club Championship Meet today at East Los Angeles College. This meet, also know as Super JOs, features the top 32 qualifiers from the Winter Junior Olympic. Those top 32 swim prelims and only the top 8 from prelims making it back later that night to swim again for a single championship final heat. Winter Junior Olympics wrapped up the final day of competition Monday and had some outstanding swims by Beach Cities. The bag of medals is very heavy!! The final session kicked off with the 11-14 boys racing in the 100 yard freestyle. Roger Brown locked in a 6th place finish in prelims and came back for finals with a 5th place overall finish and a best time of 1:00.30. Great swim, Roger!! Day three of the Southern California Winter Junior Olympic Championships showcased some phenomenal performances from all ages and some edge of your seat relay races. Many of the swimmers made it back for finals and not only dropped time in prelims but came back to drop even more time in finals. The 7-10 boys kicked it off with the 50 yard breaststroke. Southern California Swimming’s 2014 Winter Junior Olympics continued with day two in sunny Santa Clarita and Beach Cities had some outstanding performances from all age groups. The meet kicked off with Jennie Bao and first time JO swimmer Sophie Kuehler swimming the girls 13-14 100 yard breaststroke. Sophie placed 9th in prelims with a time of 1:12.52 and locked in a first alternate position for the 100 breast finals. Jasmine Margetts got the meet started by snagging a best time in the 200 back and couple tenths off her best 200 fly time. Both of these swims landed her in the top 8 for finals. In finals she swam the same time as she did in the morning in the 200 fly getting 8th place. In the 200 back she added 1.5 seconds to gain 8th place. Two difficult swims to do in the same day 40 minutes apart in both prelims and finals. (that's why we train folks).

The first day of Southern California Swimming’s Short Course Winter Junior Olympic Championships kicked off today in Santa Clarita, California. Beach Cities Swimming performed in 2 individual events and 4 relays, all timed finals. Alexandra Crisera swam the first event of the day with a fantastic time drop in her 400 yard individual medley and placing fifth overall in her age group with a time of 4:59.18. Winter Age Group Championships has come and gone and Beach Cities had some amazing swims, amazing time drops, fast relays, and multiple top 10 finishes. The 13-14 girls 200 yard freestyle relay comprised of Jennie Bao, Shannon O’Brien, Riley Farrell, and Kathryn Doyle swam to a 9th place overall finish with a time of 1:48.68. Winter Age Group Championships continued Saturday, December 14 and Beach Cities put up a strong fight. We kicked off prelims with an amazing swim by Shannon O’Brien placing fourth and making finals with a time of 1:02.60 and finaling 8th with a time of of 1:03.28.
