The 2013 Southern California Swimming Winter Age Group Championships (Las Vegas meet) began yesterday at the Desert Breeze Aquatic Center and Beach Cities raced hard and fast with top finishers in multiple events. The 7-10 boys had at least one swimmer place in each event and every swim was a time drop, the 11-12 boys had massive time cuts in multiple events and saw a swimmer final in an event, and the 13 and overs had multiple time cuts, swim offs, returns and placing at finals, and even more time...

Congratulations to our very own Beach Cities Stingrays who competed Sunday against the Rose Bowl Rays, Santa Monica Frogs, and SGV Stingrays. Our Stingrays had a great time and many of them not only swam in their first ever swim meet but over achieved and swam the 100 IM for the very first time! WOOHOO!!! Beach Cities competed at the Alondra Aquatic Center October 11-13 for the first ever Torrance hosted IMR/IMX competition and took home the FIRST OVERALL in the IMX division and multiple Top 50 finishes in both the IMR and IMX divisions. Congratulations to BCS swimmers Roger Brown, Jasmine Margettes, and Kai Scarlet who each achieved Top 16 times for the 2012-13 Long Course season! This is an annual report of the Top 16 Southern Californian swimmers in each event and for each age group. Jasmine qualified for the 400 individual medley and 200 backstroke, Roger qualified for 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Kai qualified for the 50 and 100 butterfly. Congratulation to Junior Olympic swimmers Peyton Heiden and Sierra MacDonald who placed in the Top 3 at the Hermosa Beach Triathlon on October 5. Both girls did an outstanding job with Peyton finishing 1st & Sierra finishing 3rd in the girls 14-17 year old division, although they are both only 12 years old. Beach Cities Swimmers competed at their very first tri-meet today in San Fernenado against Westside Aquatics and Los Angeles Swim Club. BCS had a great showing from all training groups and the coaching staff was very proud of the numerous best times and first timers that swam their hearts out today. The Beach Cities Stingrays competed on a warm sunny day at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on September 22 against the Santa Monica Sharks and Rose Bowl Rays and did an AMAZING JOB! This is the first swim meet for each of the Stingrays and they did an amazing job, all earning a trophy for their hard work in practice and at the competition. Beach Cities Coaches and Swim School Instructors volunteered their time during this summers swim session to work with the South Bay Special Needs Adult School. These amazing adults worked towards their recreation badges and made great progress in the pool. Congratulations to Beach Cities' own Matthew Cullen who was the youngest finisher in the recent Pier to Pier race finishing in the top 100 out of 300 wet suit participants with a time of 1:05.01. Matthew swam along side his dad, Brian Cullen, in his first open water race. High five to all Beach Cities swimmers and parents that participated in this years race!
