Sol Swim Team had a great showing at the 14 and Under Junior Olympics held at Granite Hills High School. Sol placed 11th overall out of over 22 teams. Winter Age Group Championships Sol Swim Team participated in the San Diego Winter Age Group Championships which were held at Southwestern College in December. Sol had 36 swimmers participate in the meet and the team placed 7th out of over 35 teams. Sol Swim Team had several medal winning individual performances during the meet. Eva R. (Sol Dive) participated in her competition for Sol Dive this past weekend. Eva attended the Rebel Dive Invite and place 4th on the 3 meter diving board for divers ages 16-18. Eva’s best dives of the competition were an Inward 1 ½ in the pike position and a Forward 1 ½ in the pike position earning her 43.05 points for each dive. Congrats Eva on your performance!

Sol swim team had swimmers competing in two different meets this past weekend. Sol had eight swimmers stay local to swim in the MRA BB min meet held at Granite Hills High School, while five swimmers ventured to Mesa Arizona to participate in the West Zone IMX Games. All swimmer representing Sol made coaches VERT happy with their effort and spirit at both meet. Over the weekend 20 swimmers participated in the BB max meet held by South Bay Aquatics. Aaron J. (silver) placed 1st in the 100 IM and dropped 1.5 seconds from his best time. Florina J. (bronze) also placed 1st in the 50 Freestyle beating the next finisher by over 3 seconds. Sophia J (gold) swim to a 1st place finish in the 200 IM dropping 7 seconds from her previous best time and Luis L (gold) also took home a 1st place award in the 500 Freestyle swimming the event...

Paola M. a Senior Sol Swimmer competed in the California Para-Athlete Open swim meet in Yucaipa, CA this past weekend. Paola competed against athletes from other countries including Paralympians who competed in the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. Paola Martinez competed in 9 events at the California Para Open, and dropped a total of 20.4 seconds over the 9 events. Paola topped the podium in three events, 400 Meter Freestyle 200 Meter Backstroke and the 100 Meter Backstroke, and qualified to compete in 5 events at the USA Para Nationals Championships...

Over the weekend 17 Sol Swimmers participated in the BB Min Meet hosted by Rancho San Dieguito. Swimmers from all four groups were in attendance for this meet making the Sol family very proud. One noticeable highlight of the weekend was our teams’ ability to extend their underwaters off of the start and each turn. On October 19th six swimmers, one swimmer leader (helping with the event), four coaches, four parents, and one team official attending the Swimposium held in Coronado. Swimmers had both in and out of water training session, where they learning and practicing new drills to improve technique and had a classroom session that touched on nutrition. 10 and Under Mini Meet On October 11, 2019 the SOL 10 and under swimmers participated in the 2nd meet of the season at Mater Dei HS with some amazing time drops. Gold Swimmers Represent at 14 and Under Pentathalon This past weekend five swimmers from the Gold group participated at the Pentathlon at Granite Hills High School in El Cajon. This is just the second meet so far at the start of the short course season for 2019.
