Andrew Hasek – Age Group Head Coach - [email protected]

Swimming has been a large part of Andrew’s life. He was a competitive swimmer for 15 years. The first eight years were with the Paradise Piranhas, and he finished his last 4 years of age group swimming with the Aquajets. Before “retiring” from the sport he had the pleasure of swimming for 3 years at UC Santa Cruz. Starting in 2021 he became the head coach for the Paradise Piranhas where he found a passion for coaching, and is excited to continue coaching here with CAJ. Outside of the swim world, Andrew likes staying active by training and participating in triathlons. He also enjoys reading and going out in nature to see the sights.

He is now a first-generation college student at Chico State and is studying to complete his Psychology degree. His favorite part about coaching is always seeing his students get better and improve their skills and speed. Jonathan’s favorite past times are playing basketball and swimming!

Carlos Cazares - Assistant Coach

Carlos grew up in Orange County and started taking the sport of swimming competitively when entering high school. In high school he played water polo and swim for 4 years and continued to these sports when entering Cypress college for another two years. Currently Carlos is a student at Chico State where he is still playing water polo on their club team and studying to complete his kinesiology degree. He has coached swimming for local swim schools back home and part of that time was spent coaching with coach Jonathan. In his free time he enjoys swimming and meeting new people wherever he goes.

Ava MacKay - Assistant Coach

Ava grew up in Lafayette CA, where she found her love for the sport of swimming at around 3 years old. She has been with a small recreational swim team called Sun Valley, starting off as a mini ray, building into a junior coach, and finally reached an assistant coach position. Ava's favorite part about coaching is helping out individuals with proper technical problems. She strives to make swimming as fun as possible and encourages friendships through all age groups. Ava currently attends California State University, Chico, and is a junior while she is majoring in Business Administration for Human Resources. She is super excited to be a part of the Aquajets family and is ready to help out!

Melia Roswall - Assistant Coach

Hello parents and swimmers! My name is Coach Melia and I'm a Chico State student currently studying to become a teacher. I'm from San Diego, California and I swam competitively for much of my life. I have about two years of prior experience teaching kids to swim and it's what sparked my passion for teaching and learning about teaching. I'm the coach for MiniJet Blue and I'm an assistant coach for the White and Navy groups. I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you!

Claire Anderson - Jr. Assistant Coach

Claire has been swimming for the Chico Aquajets since 2013. She started as a White group swimmer and has swam year-round, moving her way up to the Senior group. Claire will be a high school junior at Chico High where she swims on the high school swim team, runs track and plays in the Marching Band. Claire is excited to start her 2nd year coaching the MiniJets (mostly with MiniJet Silver) and assists with White group. She loves kids and wants to give back to a team that has given her so much.
