Kayla Han finsihed a tough month of August with a trip to Hawaii as a member of the USA Jr Pan Pac team. Her preparation paid off when Kayla swam a teriffic 800 on night one with an 8:35.85. It was a historic moment for the Armada and a great personel moment for Kevin Vargas. Kevin was competing in the finals of the 400 IM, where he had qualified second in the morning prelims. With 200 meters to go in the finals that night Kevin was a yard behind the European champion and Olympian, Max Litchfield. La Mirada Armada Finishes 3rd in the Nation. The Armada 10-un and 11-12 swimmers are ranked 3rd in the nation based on the USA Swimming's Top Times Database. This is a huge achievement and we should be very proud of the entire team. The 2019 Pacific Coast All Star meet was held January 5-6, between the All-Stars from Southern California Swimming, Pacific Swimming (San Francisco), Pacific Northwest Swimming (Washington), and Oregon Swimming.  The So. Cal team won the meet by over 300 points.  This is a very elite level event and our very own Michael had an incredible meet.       Armada swimmers (pictured to the right) Ryan Kao, Taylor Ault, David Wang, April Martinez, and Michael Lee, just returned from Flagstaff Arizona (altitude 7,000 feet).  The camp included 34 workouts, cross training events like the High Rope Course at NAU and lots of running, ultimate, basketball and volleyball.  Coach Shipherd was excited about the possibilities ahead,  "We are as fit as we have ever been and the kids had a great time getting there."        The camp took place at Northern Arizona University.  Activities included a trip to the...

Armada Shines at Super JO’s After way too many meets over the past few weeks, it was expected that the Armada swimmers might not do their best at the Super JO Meet last weekend.  Boy, was that wrong.  Over the course of the 3 day meet, the 14 swimmers from Armada produced 31 new personal best times.  As a team the Armada set 9 new club records, won 3 events (all Kevin Vargas), three 2nd place finishes, and two 3rd place finishes.  High Point Swimmer for the Armada and swimmer...
