Head Coach

Coach Kennedy

Hi Sharks families and athletes, my name is Kennedy Schoepp! For those of you who may recognize me but not know, I am a long-time former Shark and swim/water polo coach! I was a Stony Plain Shark for over a decade, which is where I started my coaching career in a Junior coaching position. I moved into an Assistant Coach position at 16 years old, and at 19 I was offered a Head Coach position with the Devon Dolphins Swim Club. After relocating back to Parkland County and starting in Human Resources for the municipality, I am happy to announce I am back as the Head Coach for a team I hold very near and dear to my heart!

Aside from my summer swim experience, I was a former member of both the Parkland Polo Bear Water Polo team and Edmonton Capitals Water Polo Club. At 17 I moved to Sonoma, California on a NCAA water polo scholarship for the Sonoma State Seawolves. I also have assistant coaching experience in the Polo Bears and Parkland Pirates teams, and am currently the Head Coach for the Parkland Polo Bears. Coaching is and will always be a huge part of my world, whether it's swimming, water polo or even as a volunteer with local 4-H clubs as well.

If I had to summarize my coaching philosophy in a few sentences it would be this; my number one goal is to not only teach, develop and challenge athletes in their respective sports, but foster a love for the sport and the incredible life lessons competitive sport provides so that all athletes take away valuable skills both in and out of the water. In summer swimming in particular, we see such a wide range of skill and interest (and only have such a limited time to work within) meaning our focus is on developing not just technically skilled individuals, but well-rounded athletes both in and out of the water dedicated to sport for life. And LASTLY, I can't stress enough that while I want to challenge, develop and shape athletes, I ALSO want to provide them with all the incredible and fun memories I was so lucky to possess from my years as a Shark. Work hard, play hard, learn lots and walk away with life lessons that will stick with each athlete well into adulthood.

I am so grateful and excited for this opportunity to be part of this team once again, and have attached a photo of what you can expect from me (with respect to all safe COVID procedures) on any given sunny swim day! Thanks again and LETS GET THIS SEASON STARTED!
