Provincial Series #1 - The Cascade Speed Meet & the Mini Pro Series #1

Cascade Office

01 November 2021 (Repsol Sports Centre, Calgary) - Nearly 2,500 splashes kicked off the weekend for Cascade and the other Alberta swim programs in attendance.

Not without our technical glitches but those happen in the meet environment from time to time but all in all a very well run event. The swimmers were the huge winners this weekend showing the payoff for all their hard work in the lead up to the meet - giving them a number of spooktakular results! The mini pro on Friday was great for all our young swimmers to get up and off the blocks in the ‘big racing pool’ at our main competition location. Friday also gave them a great chance to get some autographs from our national teamer athletes who were all swimming too as they prep for Europe and then World Championships later this winter.

A huge thank you to our meet managers Jamie and Chris who kept the whole thing going and kept everyone’s sugar levels up on Sunday night with the candy they brought to the pool. Thank you to all of our volunteers and officials that worked the weekend - seven (7) sessions with 40+ people each time making it nearly 300 volunteer sessions over the meet! It takes a whole village to run a swim meet and it takes a ‘superstar’ officials coordinator to get all those people in place and make sure they are all there - thank you Ella!

Our next hosted meet, December 17-19, is the Age Group Challenge which will be another huge event for the club where we expect to draw several hundred swimmers from across the province to compete.

*We had some technical problems that got sorted out but the Saturday night and Sunday sessions were better than the previous ones. Should have this all sorted out by the next meet!
