Food Drive

Kate Olijnyk

Hello,

If you don’t know me already my name is Emily and I am a coach for Novice and AG1. This year as a club we are very fortunate to be back in the pool training and making the most of what we can in this very odd time. However, for many this holiday season will be a struggle due to do job loss, lower income and overall stress of the pandemic we currently face. So with that in mind, in Warrior spirit I have organized a food drive so we as a team can give back to our community this holiday season. On December 14, 15 & 16 boxes will be present in the main foyer of UW for canned and non-perishable food items to be donated. We ask that before practice Swimmers bring their donation(s) and place them in the boxes on the given dates above, like always parents will not be allowed into the building. I will then collect the canned goods and bring them to the food bank of Waterloo. It would be amazing if we could collect 100 non-perishable and canned food items for the holiday season! Swimmers and parents please make a note in your calendar and donate, this is such a small thing that will make such a big impact on so many people’s holiday season.

The club has decided that on top of donating perishable and canned food items, we will also be using this website: https://www.thefoodbank.ca/clubwarriors/ to donate funds to our local food bank this season. Whether you choose to donate funds, a perishable food / canned item or both, please choose a way in which you can help our community this holiday season!

Stay safe and healthy,
Coach Emily
