CW Swimmers Shine at 2023 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships

Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) are held twice annually; at the end of the winter season and again in July for summer. Given the exceptional talent in Ontario, qualification standards to be in this meet are very high, sometimes just under national standards.
On March 2-5, the 2023 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships took place in Scarborough, Ontario. Club Warriors came away with many PBs and further qualifying times, ultimately placing 17th out of 64 teams in attendance.
Congratulations to our 14 Warriors who attended this prestigious meet:
Connor Brown, Cristian Ciorogariu, Willow Coburn, Elizabeth Coode, Merlyn Dong, Jessica Dreghici, Evan Hodson, Dylan Jayabahu, Quinn Logan ,Jack Lu, Cameron Morrissey, Hayley Muscat,Rodrigo Oviedo, and Michael Yarusevych.
Congrats also to Alex Rusu, Sarah Coffin, and Owen Inglis for qualifying for this meet.
This meet takes place over 4 full days of preliminaries and finals. Below are notable swims for each day of the meet.
Day 1
Club Warrior's swimmers made a strong showing on Day 1. Quite a few swimmers posted personal best times, demonstrating their hard work and dedication in the lead-up to the event. Some of these fast times qualified our swimmers for further meets!
Notable performances included
- Jessica Dreghici (15): Women 800 Meter Free 9:16.45 made Canadian Junior Trials qualifying standards
- Willow Coburn (15): 200 Meter Breast 2:45:52 made CJC qualifying standards and set a new club record
- Hayley Muscat(13): 100 Meter Back 1:10.98 made Eastern National qualifying standards
- Quinn Logan (14) 50m Free 28:33 made Eastern National qualifying standard

Day 3
CW continued their success in the pool in Day 3 making finals and more higher level qualifying. Notable Swims include:
- Willow Coburn(15): 100 Meters Breast 1.16.86 made CJC qualifying standards and a new Club Record!
- Connor Brown(14): 200 Meter Fly 2:23.72 made Eastern qualifying standards.
- Elizabeth Coode(15): 200 Meter Fly 2:24.56 made CJC qualifying standards and OJI qualfier, only 0.16s short of Canadian Junior Trials qualifying standards,
- Quinn Logan(14): 100 Meter Free 1:01.56 made Eastern qualifying standards
- Michael Yarusevych(16): 200 Meter Fly 2:13.87 made CJC qualifying standards
- Cameron Morrissey(15): 1500 Meter Free 17:15.16 made CJC qualifying standards

Our Warriors were showing strong spirit on Day 4. All our finalists made a trip to the podium! On the final day to make higher level qualifying we had the final notable swims:

- Hayley Muscat(13): 200 Meter Back 2:30.40 made CJC qualifying standards
