COMPETITIVE STREAM
Competitive Development
The Aim of the CD group is to develop technical skills that are the foundation for competitive and performance development. Swimmers will learn how to execute basic skills in training practices and start applying performance skills while competing in swim meets.
Group Eligibility: Maintain Group Membership:
•  Ages 12 & under • Swimmers must demonstrate improvement in technical abilities and performance in all 4 strokes and 200 IM to retain their place relative to their age group with each passing season
•  Compete a minimum 2 Premier Swim Meets • Each swimmer’s potential to progress to a Competitive and/or Performance level will be evaluated; swimmers may be placed in other groups that compliment their ability
• Show improvement in racing technical ability • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct
• Achieve a minimum of 3 B NB SC standard times  
Swim Meets: Practice Attendance:
• Coaches select competitions that will help develop the technical skills required to move to the next level in a racing environment. • Swimmers in this group are expected to attend all practices scheduled by their coach(s).
• The swim meet calendar is designed so that the correct amount of training can be delivered in order that racing improvements are achieved.  
• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend and compete at all swim meets selected for them by their coach - typically 6 swim meets each season  
COMPETITIVE STREAM
Performance Development
The Performance Development group is for swimmers who compete at a Provincial standard or above. This group provides an opportunity for swimmers who are younger in their biological development to train and compete at a more relaxed frequency as they reach maturation. The group consists of members who also excel at other aquatic and sporting disciplines, whereby swimming compliments their other chosen sport to enhance their performance level.
Group Eligibility: Maintain Group Membership:
• Aged 12-18 years • Swimmers in this group are expected to attend all practices scheduled by their coach(s).
• All swimmers must have achieved a minimum of 3 NB LC or SC standard times • Swimmers should be working towards achieving the Performance Standards listed below. In the event that a swimmer does not achieve the minimum criteria notice of membership will be given
      • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct
      • Swimmers who have had the longest opportunity to achieve the criteria will be reviewed in the first instance.
Swim Meets: Practice Attendance:
• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend swim meets regularly as determined by their coach. This is typically 12 swim meets/season. Mandatory meets outliined below • There is a limited number of spaces available in the Competitive Stream and the aim is to attend 80% of all practices allocated to this group.

Swimmers should be working towards achieving the following:

PERFORMANCE STREAM
Competitive 2
This group aims to develop technical skills that are the foundation of performance. Athletes will be exposed to training practices that will prepare them to start understanding the journey of what is required to become a world class athlete.
Group Eligibility: Maintain Group Membership:
•  Ages 12 & under • Swimmers must demonstrate improvement in technical abilities and performance in all 4 strokes and 200 IM or 400 IM to retain their place relative to their age group with each passing season
•  Compete at most Premier swim meets • Each swimmer’s potential to progress to a Competitive and/or Performance level will be evaluated; swimmers may be placed in other groups that compliment their ability
• Show improvement in racing technical ability and in training abilities • Practice attendance (see below) will be monitored and swimmers may be moved to another group and/or not permitted to attend swim meets/team travel if minimum attendance is not maintained.
• Achieve a minimum of 2 A NB SC Standard times • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct

• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend and compete at all swim meets selected for them by their coach - typically 7 meets each season  
PERFORMANCE STREAM
Competitive 1
This group aims to develop technical skills that are the foundation of performance. Athletes will be exposed to training practices that will prepare them to start understanding the journey of what is required to become a world class athlete.

•  Ages 12 & under • Swimmers must demonstrate improvement in technical abilities and performance in all 4 strokes and 400 IM to retain their place relative to their age group with each passing season
•  Compete in all Premier swim meets • Each swimmer’s potential to progress to a Competitive and/or Performance level will be evaluated; swimmers may be placed in other groups that compliment their ability
• Show improvement in racing technical ability and in training abilities • Practice attendance (see below) will be monitored and swimmers may be moved to another group and/or not permitted to attend swim meets/team travel if minimum attendance is not maintained.
• Achieve a minimum of 4 A NB SC Standard times • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct
Swim Meets: Practice Attendance:
• Coaches select competitions that will help develop the technical skills required to move to the next level in a racing environment • Swimmers in this group are expected to attend all practices scheduled by their coach(s).
• The swim meet calendar is designed so that the correct amount of training can be delivered in order that racing improvements are achieved  
• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend and compete at all swim meets selected for them by their coach - typically 9 meets each season  
PERFORMANCE STREAM
Performance 2
This group is for swimmers who compete at provincial standard or above. The goal for this group is to create a foundation for a swimmer to successfully move from provincial to National stage and to be promoted to the Performance 1 group. 
Athletes work on a multitude of skills and learn how to apply them in a variety of training and racing environments.
Group Eligibility: Maintain Group Membership:
•  Female Aged 13 years minimum (+1 year discretion) • Swimmers promoted to P2 must demonstrate improvement in technique and performance in all Olympic events to retain their place with each passing season. Each swimmer's potential to progress to a National level will be evaluated
•  Males Aged a minimum of 14 years (+1 discretion) • Practice attendance (see below) will be monitored and swimmers may be moved to another group and/or not permitted to attend swim meets/team travel if minimum attendance is not maintained.
• Swimming will be working towards achieving NS Senior Standards and Eastern Standards times • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct
• Athletes in this group must have the highest level of positive attitude, work ethic, cooperation, coachability, athletic intelligence and contribution to the team to strive to become a World Class Athlete and National/Provincial performer  
•  P2 swimmers at a minimum must achieve both of the following standards for the Spring LC and/or Summer LC Champs:      
・NB Senior 200 IM and/or 400 IM      
・NB Senior 100 or 200 in minimum of two fo the four strokes      
Swim Meets: Practice Attendance:
• Coaches select competitions that will help develop the technical skills required to move to the next level in a racing environment • Swimmers in this group are expected to attend all practices scheduled by their coach(s).
• The swim meet calendar is designed so that the correct amount of training can be delivered in order that racing improvements are achieved • Minimum attendance of 85% of practices
• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend and compete at all swim meets selected for them by their coach (emphasis is on LC swim meets) - typically 12 meets each season  
• Mandatory Meets:      
December - MLTC or Team Trip  
Moncton Open Cup - Jan/Feb  
NB Spring LC Champs - March  
Invitational or Team Trip - April/May
Atlantic Cup - July  
PERFORMANCE STREAM
Performance 1
Aim is to develop swimmers from a provincial level and prepare them to compete on a National stage. The athletes that will graduate to this group will develop skills and technique that will enable them to have a foundation of World Class technical skills, to succeed and compete on a national and international stage. Athletes will also learn how to train and apply themselves efficiently to ensure they have the potential to become world class athletes.

Group Eligibility: Maintain Group Membership:
•  Female Aged 13 years minimum (+1 year discretion) • Swimmers promoted to P1 must demonstrate improvement in technique and performance in all Olympic events to retain their place with each passing season. Each swimmer's potential to progress to a National and International level will be evaluated
•  Males Aged a minimum of 14 years (+1 discretion) • Practice attendance (see below) will be monitored and swimmers may be moved to another group and/or not permitted to attend swim meets/team travel if minimum attendance is not maintained
• Membership to the P1 group is entirely at the discretion of the Head Coach and other Performance Stream coaches • Swimmers must abide by the FAST Code of Conduct
• Swimmers and parents must demonstrate an understanding of the level of commitment expected  
• Swimmers must show the highest standards in attendance, preparation, application, enthusiasm, cooperation and contribute positively to the team to strive to become a World Class Athlete      
• Athletes in this group must have the highest level of positive attitude, work ethic, cooperation, coachability, athletic intelligence and contribution to the team to strive to become a World Class Athlete and National/Provincial performer      
•  P1 swimmers must achieve the following standards for the Spring LC and/or Summer LC Champs:      
・NB Senior 200 IM and/or 400 IM      
・NB Senior 100 or 200 in minimum of two of the four strokes      
・Should be within 1% of Eastern standard or Junior/Senior National standard      
・Athlete's training ability at the highest level is also under consideration for moving into this group      
Swim Meets: Practice Attendance:
• Coaches select competitions that will help develop the technical skills required to move to become a World Class swimmer in a racing environment • Attendance of 100% of practices
• The swim meet calendar is designed so that the correct amount of training can be delivered in order that racing improvements are achieved  
• Swimmers in this group are expected to attend and compete at all swim meets selected for them by their coach - typically 12 meets each season  
• Over competing is detrimental to National/World class development  
• All members of P1 are expected to regularly compete within the ccompetition program provided.
