WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – Former Inconnu Swim Club member Cale Murdock is preparing to compete in another event at the Olympic Trials in April.

The 23-year-old Murdock was set to compete in the 200 and 400-metre freestyle, but at the end of February, he learned that he would also race in the 800-metre freestyle.

The Olympic Trials are scheduled for April 7th to 11th in Toronto.

Murdock was selected as one of a limited number of participants, as COVID-19 regulations restrict the number of athletes that can compete. A maximum of 20 swimmers will be invited to each race.

In a recent story, Murdock told which distance is his favourite.

“200-metre freestyle, for sure,” said Murdock.

According to Swim Canada, Murdock’s fastest 200-metre freestyle time is 1:48.04. His fastest 400-metre freestyle time is 3:50.35, and his best 800-metre time is 8:05.74.

Murdock began his swimming career with the Inconnu Swim Club in Fort St. John.
