Josh Sorensen Head Coach
My name is Josh Sorensen and I am very excited and grateful to be coming in as Head Coach of the Fort St John Inconnu Swim Club for the upcoming season. Most of my swimming and coaching experience comes from growing up and going to school in Southern Alberta. (Calgary and University of Lethbridge) There I've had the great privilege of swimming, working with, and coaching swimmers with provincial records, members of Jr and Senior National teams up to the Olympics team.

Inconnu has had great swimmers in the past and fit my belief that fast swimming can come from anywhere. I believe every athlete has their own potential and it's my job to help them achieve that.

My coaching philosophy is excellence through learning and application. As coaches it's our job to provide plentiful and diverse learning opportunities to best facilitate the growth of the swimmers. As they continue through the club, what they need to learn changes. I strive to have a program that creates the opportunities to learn at every skill level while giving them challenges to work towards. Swimming is a process driven sport, while it often becomes defined by results, we have to remember the processes that lead to each result.

I'm looking forward to working with the club in creating a program that best guides development across all skill levels. A program that keeps kids invested and engaged in the sport, and allows them to grow not only as swimmers but as people.
Norah Vogan Coach - Senior Group

My name is Norah and I am a NCCP Level 1 Coach with a competitive swimming background (Grande Prairie Piranhas, Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves, University of Lethbridge Pronghorns). Also, I swam and helped coach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and then moved back to Canada and coached at the University of Alberta while finishing my Master’s Degree. I had the privilege of helping the coaching staff at UNLV and we helped send three swimmers to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.  I love to coach and see swimmers find their power in the water.

Emily Brady Coach - Novice Group

Back in 2006, I earned a badge for completing a 5m swim which, at the time, I thought was a big deal. Nine years later, in 2015, I completed a 5000m swim. From this, I hope to inspire the Novice swimmers because I know that anyone is capable of becoming a great swimmer. I have swum competitively for seven years before I decided to start volunteering my time as an in-water assistant. I loved it so much that I decided to take the training to become an actual coach. Now, I have been coaching with Inconnu, and the former club Stingrays, for two and a half years. I always aim to teach the basics of swimming while still making sure the kids have a good time with the club.
