Curtis Robinson Head Coach

My true love and passion for swimming came at a young age. In high school on my club team, I was able to qualify up to US Open and NCSA Junior National times. That was good enough to get me a spot on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ Men’s Swimming team being one of their Breaststroke/IMers.

At UNLV I swam four years. The Men’s team were the first conference champion swim team in UNLV history in 2005. Then repeated in 2006 (the team then went on to claim many more after that). Amd taught me great lessons in being a good teammate, and being part of a legacy bigger than one’s self. One that I have tried to respect and bring that same understanding to teams I’ve coached.

Upon graduating with a BS in Earth Science, I decided to get into coaching. As a Head Coach in Manhattan, KS, Assistant Coach in Pasadena, Ca, and as a Head Coach in Las Cruces, NM.

I’ve coached all ages, and all levels. I try to approach things from a technical standpoint first, and then move towards more endurance, speed, power, etc... The technique is the foundation to continually repeat, and build upon with everything else.  As we get into this season I am excited to see how well all groups improve with their stroke mechanics. As you might hear coaches say every so often, “they look good in the water.” From the Novice on up, I’m ready for them all to look good in the water. Use that improved technique to build confidence in the pool; in practices and in meets. Then leads to more confidence out of the pool as well.

Norah Vogan Coach - Senior Group

Norah is a NCCP Level 1 Coach with considerable competitive swimming experience (Grande Prairie Piranhas, Grande Prairie Regional College, University of Lethbridge). She swam and coached at the University of Las Vegas and also coached at the University of Alberta while finishing her Master’s Degree.  Norah had the privilege of being part of the coaching staff at UNLV that sent three swimmers to the Beijing Olympics in 2008.  She brings with her a wealth of technical knowledge and she will be an asset to the Club.

Jaime Jodoin Coach - Junior A & B

I am Jaime Jodoin. This is my first year coaching with Inconnu Swim Club. I was a swim mentor last year and a Junior assistant coach for the Fort St John Stingrays for 2 seasons. I have been swimming for 10 years and fell in love with it at a young age. I am in grade 11 and attend North Peace Secondary School. I am very excited to start this year and hope to teach the kids the same love for swimming that I have.

Emily Brady Coach - Novice Group

Emily was a long term swimmer with Inconnu as well as the Stingrays.  After finishing swimming, she volunteered for Stingrays for three summers.  She is now one of the Inconnu coaches for the Novice group.  She is excited to inspire the Novice swimmers to work hard and to be proud of their accomplishments. She believes that anyone can be a great swimmer and that her job is to help the Novice group become great swimmers!

Karen Mason-Bennett Swim For Fit / Swim For Life

Karen has been swiming for her entire life.  The pool has always been a place where she felt accepted and is still one of the first places she heads when she needs to think.  Karen most recently coached Fort St. John's Special Olympics group for four years.  She is excited to be back at the pool this season.
