"Mel Zajac exceeded all our expectations"
This was the 2nd fastest swim meet outside World Championship Trials and the fastest 18 and under meet by far in the country.  The USA junior national team was there as well as Canada's top swimmers.  Maverick swimmers were in the middle of hard training with no rest.  We  were a little slow out of the gates on the first day of racing but quickly picked up momentum for finals and the days to follow.
Some highlights: included Finlay Knox winning the 200 IM by over 2 seconds to 2nd place and Olympian Marcus Thormeyer.  He also placed 3rd in the 50 fly, 10th in the 100 fly, 11th in 50 br, and 13th in the 100 free.
Justin Lisoway got better as the meet progressed and swam very well this early in the season.   He placed 15th in the 50 bk, 24th in 200 IM, and 6th place in the 50 br.
Lorenzo Ford, Tess Barber, and Megan Deering swam very well and earned very valuable experience of swimming at the top level in the country.
Worth mentioning was Luca Urlando from the USA who is only 17 years old swam to a 1:54 in 200 fly which puts him 3rd in the world.  His time would have placed him 5th at the Rio Olympics.
Finlay also broke the 17 & over and overall club record in the 50 Fly.
Mel Zajac was held at UBC, Vancouver, BC.
