Active for Life

Our Active for Life program consists of our FLEX/House League and Masters groups.

FLEX/House League

The FLEX/House League program is the non-competitive stream within the club. This program offers the flexibility to swim anywhere between one (1) and five (5) times per week. The group teaches the fundamentals of anaerobic training with a focus on skill development and enhancement across all parameters including that of all four strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle) through stroke progression and feedback. This foundational program is considered ‘Developmental’ and/or ‘Open-for-all young people and all abilities’. This group aims to the largest population at a basic, general level of structured swimming through rolling registration, flexible schedules, and competitive fees. Members in the FLEX/House League program have the option to compete in swim meets as they focus on developing their swimming skills and abilities through constant skill progression and coaching. This program is ideal for swimmers who; love structured swimming but don’t necessarily want to compete; those who just want to stay active in structured swimming; those looking to further develop their swimming strokes/techniques; those who need to have a better aerobic base and stroke technic for alternative programs such as Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, and National Lifeguarding Society certifications and much more! At any point throughout the season members from our competitive stream are welcome to transition to FLEX/House League. One of the large benefits to our FLEX program is that swimmers are integrated and swum in lanes and workouts based off their abilities on a case by case basis rather than the number of times per week they swim. This developmental program falls under Swim Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Plan ‘Active for Life’ category.

Masters

The Master program is the adult non-competitive stream within the club. This program offers the flexibility to swim anywhere between one (1) and five (5) times per week. The group works on the development of all four strokes with an anerobic base. This masters program falls under Swim Canada’s Long-Term Athlete Development Plan ‘Active for Life’ category.

The program starts on September 16, 2019, and ends June 5, 2020.
