Swim Alberta Festival Report

Dec 9, 2018

At our first test of the season a large team of 14 qualifiers made the journey to Edmonton to compete against teams from northern Alberta at the newly created Swim Alberta Festival. This level of competition was designed to bring together all promising under 11 year olds to compete head to head in a fast and furious racing format.

As a new competition the team didn’t know what to expect but were well prepared by the coaching team and were ready to give it their all to succeed. After 2 days of lots of racing the team managed an impressive 14 first places, 10 second places and 14 third places in individual events. Not being satisfied with that the relay teams also produced 4 first place. Despite there not being an overall team points its safe to say that our young swimmers dominated and finished top club by a long way with the most 1st places and most top 3 finishes of any team.

Stand out performer of the competition was Stella Robinson with 7 first places from 8 individual races. Other first place finishers included Mya Monsen, Anna Johnson, Marley Monsen, and Hudson Frayn. The relay teams that include 8 different swimmers were fantastic and show we don’t just have individual performers. So well done to Dominik Kwiecien, Wyllo Lindberg, Brittyn Talbot, Jamie Hensch, and Mikayla Laurin for stepping up. Overall this was a positive step in the right direction for our club and show the other clubs we are here to compete. Well done all that attended and keep up the good work.
