Bronze  

The Bronze program has been designed to build on the basics of competitive swimming and focus on building strong fundamentals.  Swimmers at this level will learn all four strokes, as well as dives, starts and turns. 

Swimmers at this level will have the opportunity to compete in 3-5 sanctioned swim meets throughout the season.

Aligns with Swimming Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Stage 2 – Fundamentals and progressing towards Stage 3 – Learn to Train

 

  • Age 8-11 (at time of registration)

 

Practice:

  • 45min - 1 hour swim practices (2 times a week)

 

As per Swimming Canada's LTAD plan for Stage 2 (Fundamentals), it is recommended that swimmers at this level practice at least 2 times per week.

 

Level Requirement(s):

•        New swimmers 10-11 should join this level

 

At the start of this level, returning swimmers (under 10) will be able to:

  • Swim multiple lengths of Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke with confidence. Attempt butterfly
  • Dive off of a starting block.
  • Perform flip turns and backstroke starts.

 

Level Goal(s):

By the end of this level, swimmers will have:

  • Proper technique for Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.
  • Build endurance.
  • Improved training habits.
  • Understanding of pace clock and training sets
