Introductory & Fitness Programs

These groups are based on the 2nd (Fundamentals) stage of Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, (refer to page 24).

Mini-Marlins 1  (once-a-week)          Roster: MM1

Full Season: $480 plus governing body fee
Half Season1: $
275 plus governing body fee

Weekly Swim Training: Option for Tue or Thu 4:15-5:00 pm
Pool: APAC

Description: This Mini-Marlin program is designed to introduce the skills required for all four competitive strokes. Open to swimmers able to complete 25m of some form of freestyle, 25m of some form of backstroke, and be able to kick on a kickboard. Skills introduced will be presented in a fun and interactive learning environment with a focus on the enjoyment of swimming. Choose either the Tuesday or Thursday class. The typical age is 6-8 years old.

1 Half seasons run Sep 19 - Dec 19 and Jan 7 - Apr 5

Mini-Marlins 2  (twice-a-week)          Roster: MM2 

Full Season: $745 plus governing body fee
Half Season2: $395 plus governing body fee

Description: Same as the MM1 program, but with 2 swims per week.

2 Half seasons run Sep 19 - Dec 14 and Jan 6 - Apr 5

Description:  Training twice a week from September to the first week of April (with breaks corresponding to school holidays). Those who are ready can register for local meets.  The typical age is 8-9.

3 Half seasons run Sep 19 -Dec 13 and Jan 8 - Apr 5

Senior (three times a week)          Roster: S

Full Season: $1,340 plus governing body fee

Weekly Swim Training: Mon 3:30-4:30 pm (APAC), Wed 4:00-5:00 pm (APAC) and Thur 3:00-4:00 (Queens)
First Practice: Mon Sep 16, 2019
Pool: APAC

Description: This program is designed for athletes aged 13 and over who are still developing their skills and abilities in swimming. Swimming 3 times a week, they have the opportunity but are not required, to compete at local area meets. Practices will run from September until mid-April. This program is loosely based on Stage 7 (Active for life) in the Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 34   However, it can also be used a stepping stone for a younger athlete without swimming experience hoping to make the transition to competitive swimming.

Junior Development          Roster: JD 

Full Season: $1,535 plus governing body fee

Weekly Swim Training: Mon or Tue 5-6 pm Queens, Wed 5-6 pm APAC or Thur 5-6 Queens, Everyone swims Fri 5:00-6:30 pm Queens
First Practice: Wed Sep 18, 2019

Description: This program is designed for athletes aged 8-12 who are still developing their skills and abilities in swimming. They have the opportunity to compete at local area meets and occasionally beyond. Practices will run until late-May. Focusing on the fundamentals of competitive swimming, including improving all 4 strokes, following a practice plan, and using a pace clock. These swimmers are beginning Stage 3 (Learn to Train) in Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 26   

Junior          Roster: J 

Full Season: $1,885 plus governing body fee

APAC Mon 4:30-6:00 pm and Sat 7:30-9:00 am 
Queens Wed 4:45-6:00 pm and Friday 3:30-5:00

Description: This program is designed to lead to mastery of Stage 3 (Learn to Train) in Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 26 and getting ready for Stage 4 (Train to train) pg 28

Full Season: $2,380 plus governing body fee

Weekly Swim Training: Mon 6-7:30 am, Tues 3:30-5 pm, Wed 6-7:30 am, Fri 3:30-5 pm, Sat 8-9:30 am
First Practice: Tue Sep 3, 2019
Pool: Queen’s

Description: Competitive athletes ages 12-15 who have demonstrated the ability and desire to train at competitive levels 5 times per week. These swimmers will attend local, regional and provincial level meets. These athletes are firmly in Stage 4 (Train to Train)  of Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 28  

Senior Competitive        Roster: SC 

Full Season: $2,275 plus governing body fee

Weekly Swim Training: Mon 3:30-5 pm, Tues 6-7:30 am, Wed 6-7 am plus dryland, Thur 3:30-5 pm. Fri 6-7:30 am, Sat 8-9:30 am
First Practice: Wed Sep  4, 2019
Pool: Queen’s

Description: Competitive athletes ages 15 and over with the ability and desire to train intensely at competitive levels 5 times per week. These swimmers will attend both local, regional level meets as well as invitational meets across the province.. These athletes are typically following Stage 5 (Train to Compete) of Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 30. but, depending on their age and other sport priorities, may be in Stage 7 (Active for Life) 

Senior Performance          Roster: SP 

Full Season: $2,790 plus governing body fee

Weekly Training Mon 3:30-5 pm, Tue 6-7:30 am, Wed 6-7:30 am and 3-5 pm, Thu 3:30-5 pm, Fri 6-7:30 am, Sunday 2:30-4 pm
First Practice: Thu Sep 5, 2019
Pool: Queen’s 

Description: 13 and older, training 7 to 11 times a week, swimming is a high priority for swimmers in this group. In addition to planning activities around workouts and competitions, they will need to schedule "downtime" so that they can adequately recover and continue to improve. These athletes are following Stage 6 (Train to Compete) and progressing to Stage 7 Compete to Win in  Swimming Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD) - see page 30 & 32.

 

Varsity/Alumni

Varsity/Alumni - Varsity Season          Roster: VAVS

Fee: $100

Description: We are pleased to offer a limited number of spots to our University age swimmers. For a flat $100 fee, swimmers can drop in at any time throughout the entire varsity season and train with KBM.  Any swimmers looking to train and compete with us should communicate their training and competition plans with the head coach early and often.

Varsity/Alumni - Post-Varsity Season          Roster: VAPV

Fee: $300 (includes any and all meet entry fees)

Description: We are pleased to offer a limited number of spots to our University age swimmers. For $300, alumni swimmers can continue to train past the varsity season, with free entry into any and all meets KBM enters during that period.  Swimmers looking to train and compete with us should communicate their training and competition plans with the head coach early and often.
