KISU Code of Conduct

All KISU swimmers shall agree to:

  • Display respect, honesty and sportsmanship towards coaches, officials, administrators, parents, team mates and fellow competitors.
  • Display a positive and supportive attitude toward the program, coaches and teammates.
  • Maintain a lifestyle that will allow for proper sleep, rest and nutrition necessary for maximum performance.
  • Behave in such a way that their actions reflect positively on the team, at all club functions, whether practice, meets or social gatherings,.  All members of the club, whether parents or swimmers, should protect and improve the excellent reputation of the club. 


-Refrain from any inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour, such as, but not exclusive to:

  • Any activity, which would detract from a positive image of the program.
  • Any negative electronic presence (social media, texting, etc) including a poor representation of yourself.
  • Interfere with the progress of another swimmer during practice or otherwise.
  • Use of any drugs unless medically prescribed.
  • Violation of curfews established by the coach.
  • Smoking. Drinking alcoholic beverages at any time.  Any illegal activity.


Any contravention of the Code of Conduct will be dealt with by the KISU Swim Club, through its representatives, and may result in

  • Practice suspension.
  • Fines (eg. cost of a relay, if the club must cancel when a swimmer pulls out).
  • Not permitted to compete any further at a meet, or being dropped from a relay event.
  • Sent home early via bus/plane (at parent’s expense).
  • Suspension from competition until further notice (or expulsion).
  • Any combination of the above.

Swim BC Swimmers Code of Conduct Policy

(Original Policy)


This policy is inclusive of all level of swimmers. Therefore some codes of conduct may be applicable only to those swimmers who find themselves competing at levels in which they are representing either Swim BC and/or SNC.

  • Swimmers should represent the sport of swimming as a whole and in particular Swim BC and the member club to which he/she is attached.
  • Swimmers are responsible for treating other Swim BC members with respect within the context of their activity regardless of gender, place of origin, color, sexual orientation, religion, political belief, economic status or ability.
  • Swimmers should refrain from criticism of coaches, fellow swimmers, parents and officials, particularly to and through the media. When public comments are made, swimmers have an obligation to ensure such comments are made judiciously, reflective of the facts, supportable and sensitive to the situation(s).
  • Differences of opinion should be dealt with on a personal or club basis. Serious disputes may be referred to Swim BC.
  • Swimmers should refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language while participating in Swim BC or SNC sanctioned activities/events.
  • Swimmers should not use tobacco, alcohol or otherdrugs which affect their physical ability, mood or behaviors, unless prescribed by a physician for medical purposes. Swim BC has a zero tolerance level regarding alcohol consumption during and around swimming competition. Swimmers jeopardize funding eligibility (both current and future) and membership with Swim BC if found to be abusing alcohol in and around competition.
  • Swimmers should strive for excellence (according to their abilities).
  • Swimmers should respect the achievements of opponents.
  • Swimmer who represent local clubs, Swim BC, or Swimming/Natation Canada should behave in a manner which reflects favorably on themselves and on the organization they represent.
