Friday Nov 29 Senior Bronze/Blue NO workout – WSRC is hosting a water polo tournament

Holiday Break Dec 23 to Dec 30. (Senior Gold/Silver start workouts Dec 27 & Senior Bronze/Blue start workouts Dec 29). Regular schedule begins again on Sat Jan 4. The holiday schedule is posted on the LAC website under the “schedule” tab.

WOW! That was some ridiculously good swimming last weekend pretty much across the board! Sure , there may have been the odd mis-step or mis-fire, totally NORMAL, but on balance some very fine performances in all age categories and on all 3 days. Really, the expectation should be nothing less, when we're in our "home" pool, and are familiar with the surroundings, and get to sleep in our own beds and eat at our own dining tables. It's very clear many of you have been training with purpose and passion and persistence, and you have been rewarded for those efforts.  One important thing to remember as we start working toward the next competition: "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just stand there." So, be happy with your results, but don't let yourself become self-satisfied or complacent. Continue working with purpose and passion and persistence toward your next objective!

Many thanks Moms and Dads, for making sure our swimmers were ready to rock every day, while at the same time volunteering your time and energy throughout the weekend in the myriad volunteer roles necessary to make a meet run well.

Special congratulations to first-time Regional Championship qualifiers Ella Bee, Clementina Bello, Lilah Jeffrey and Elise Webb; and to first-time Provincial Championship qualifiers Ella Bee and Declan Nolan (Festival) and Ahmed El Tataway and Tristan Look-Hong (OYJC). Further special congratulations to first-time Top 10 Performers (and white cap recipients!) Hayden Bartoch, Ewan Shearer, and Maggie Yang.

A summary of our Nothers achievements will be posted to the "News" section of the website.

LAC canteen committee is planning a bake sale for the 12 and under meet/ time trial weekend. All proceeds will go to the LAC bursary fund, which is used to help our own LAC families. Any baking donations would be appreciated, but if you aren’t a baker, and would like to help, we will also be taking donations of beverages to be sold (in the form of cases of pop). All funds from this sale will be returned directly to the LAC bursary fund. Email for more information, and watch for signups when available!

This past weekend our LAC family pulled together to host the Annual LAC Nothers Fall Invitational Swim Meet.    I want to thank everyone for their hard work and enthusiasm.     Together we welcomed 12 clubs and approximately 725 swimmers into our house for some great swimming and great fun.

We couldn't have been successful with such a large meet without everyone’s willingness to volunteer on the deck and in the office.   Behind the scenes our setup crew had us ready to go Friday morning and our canteen team members kept us well fed throughout the weekend.     Thank you everyone.

As meet managers I feel very fortunate to have had the support of everyone involved.

Thank you, Karen Campbell – LAC Nothers Fall Invitational Meet Managers

LAC - Nothers Fall Invitational: Thank you to everyone who helped in some way!  I will miss a bunch but need to name a few.  Thank you to Karen Campbell our Meet Manager on yet another fantastic job on our kick-off invitational for the season.  Thank you to Rose Bloch-Hansen our behind the scenes guardian of data correctness and accurate results!  Most of you have no idea!  Thank you to the Canteen crew for keeping us fed!  And thank you to all of the LAC and visiting volunteers who make these meets possible!  We quite literally could NOT do this without you!

My Birthday On Friday!: Thank you to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday at Nothers on Friday.  The attention was delightful!

Clinics: I have had a few people ask me and YES, I will be offering more officials clinics.  They will probably not start up again until January but, if you REALLY want a particular clinic, let me know.  Yeah Brad, I know.  All the ones you do not have!  The next Strokes and Turns clinic will NOT be on a Friday evening.  Maybe it will be on a Saturday morning or another week night.  If you have been waiting for this clinic and have particular nights or days on weekends that work, feel free to email me with what will work but recognize that there is only so much that I can do and I am also a volunteer.

Senior officials for The Holiday Time Trial:  Send you requests to me ASAP. I already have some but not all of them.  I usually assign these on a first come first serve basis.  The other meets are FAR more complex in the assignment processes.

Senior Officials for the LAC 12 & Under Celebration: This meet has a different Competition Coordinator.   Please email your requests to Denise McDonald at Include “12 & Under Celebration” in the subject and tell her the sessions that you are available and the jobs that you would like to work.   Be aware that any time you sign up for senior position, if the position is not available, you MAY be assigned to any other job that you have the clinic for!  This makes life much more exciting!  Just ask Sanny!

Official Registrations: A bunch of official registrations are being processed since Nothers.  Please pay attention.  When we register you in the Swim Canada website as an official or when returning officials are reactivated by Swim Canada, each official will receive an email from with instructions on how to complete the activation of your account.  Please do not ignore this email.  Check your spam folder.  Follow the instructions to log-in to your account, review the information for correctness and then go to the My Info tab and click on SAVE even if nothing was changed.  This is REQUIRED in order for us to activate your account.  It is important to LAC that officials are activated in this way as it affects our ability to host meets.  There were people who received the letter 7 or more times last season and never responded.  Some people are already up to 4 times this season.  It would be very helpful if we did not have to chase people.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at

The Session Credit Policy is posted under the “Parent Info" tab On the LAC website. All returning families and families transferring from another club, please make sure you review the policy and are award of your session credit commitments for the season. Please note that the website lists the sessions as hours: 1 hr. = 1 session.
