COACHES REPORT

Over the course of the past year the coaches have received many very very kind words and notes of thanks from appreciative parents (and swimmers), and we all want you all to know that these words are very much appreciated and cherished. By the same token, the sentiments run in both directions. We the coaches feel very fortunate and very lucky to be able to work with your children. While they are all different and unique, they do share some common characteristics in which I'm sure you all as parents take as much pride as we do, and they all strive every day to honour the LAC Core Principles of honesty, accountability, respect, competitiveness and resilience. So THANK YOU parents, for bringing us your children and staying committed to the LAC program, despite our inability to provide our swimmers with the programming they need and deserve. Words cannot express how much we look forward to seeing and teaching and coaching your children again soon, in person! Here's a recent example of an email received by the very appreciative LAC coaching staff:

"I just wanted to take a moment to say thanks to all of the LAC swim coaches out there. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I want you to know that the only solace I have had as a parent this year is swimming. I am able to worry so much less about my child's mental and physical health from all these lockdowns because of the programs you are running. I hope you understand that what you are offering is a lifeline. A lifeline to normalcy. It is offering hope that normalcy will return. It is offering community and connection. This is huge for a parent. I don't know how I could have gotten through without this. You are not just helping my swimmer, you are helping me. I am so glad we found LAC. The sport of swimming has granted us community and in some cases, a family.  I just want you to know that you are all essential to our family. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. On those days you don't see the purpose, know that we are out there holding on with both hands to your lifeline. Thanks for ALL that you are doing. You are supporting not only the swimmers, but their families too. Just keep swimming!!!"

IT'S BIGGER THAN YOU. AND IT'S BIGGER THAN ME. BUT IT'S NOT BIGGER THAN US.

FUNDRAISING

Value Village FUNDrive - POSTPONED

Unfortunately due to the latest lockdown, Value Village was unable to accept our delivery on April 17. A new delivery date has been set for Sat May 29, with donation drop-off in the Banting High School parking lot from 9:30-11am on that date. The deadline to join the used clothing drive and sign up on our website has been extended to Fri May 14. THANK YOU everyone for stepping up and diving deep into your closets, and hopefully you can find somewhere out of the way to store your donations for the next 6 weeks!

North Country Meats - "FILL THE TRUCK!"

Our 2nd meat fundraiser has begun! Sell boxes of frozen meat and seafood to your friends, neighbours, co-workers and family…and best of all, stock your own freezer! For each box of meat sold by a family, 50% of the profit will go to LAC, the other 50% can be applied as a credit towards reducing your swim fees (please note, money raised by swimmers can not be redeemed in cash, only as a credit towards your account). We sold 568 boxes of meet back in November, netting the club $3400 and also helping offset membership fees - our rallying cry for the spring campaign is "Fill The Truck!" This means 1000 boxes of meat sold.

ALL forms and money must be submitted by Fri May 7 and delivery will be Sat May 15 in the Banting High School parking lot. All families will be responsible for delivering their meat orders to their customers. We are hoping that every family can sell a minimum of 10 boxes of meat to help make this fundraiser a great success.

EQUIPMENT

Please remember that any individual swim equipment purchases you make on the AllTides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment.
