Some of you may have read or heard about 2018 Olympic gold medal bobsledder and London native Alex Kopasz catching COVID-19 and ending up at University Hospital for two nights, bedridden and very sick. Alex was the guest speaker at our 2018 banquet and did an amazing job. He's a very large and very fit man, and the fact that he got very sick with the virus is a stark reminder to us all just how serious our situation is. Alex chose to go public with his illness to remind everyone to keep following protocols. We reached out to Alex to extend the club's very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery and, happily, he is getting better, and was very appreciative of the support.

We must say good bye to our Age Group Blue primary coach Josie Andres, who is leaving LAC for a summer work placement in Toronto before embarking on her full-time career in audiology. Josie was a swimmer for LAC from 2007-14, then went to the University of Waterloo for 5 years before returning to London to get a post-graduate degree in audiology. Good luck Josie, you will be missed.

The team store on the AllTides website is now closed. Delivery of our team order is anticipated for the week of May 10. If you have any questions regarding All Tides orders or product concerns, please contact the following email address [email protected]

Unfortunately due to the latest lockdown, Value Village was unable to accept our delivery on April 17. A new delivery date was set for Sat May 29, but that has since been pushed even further, to Sat June 26. Donation drop-off will still be in the Banting High School parking lot from 9:30-11am on that date. The deadline to join the used clothing drive and sign up on our website has been extended to Fri May 14. THANK YOU everyone for stepping up and diving deep into your closets, and hopefully you can find somewhere out of the way to store your donations for the next 6 weeks!

North Country Meats - "FILL THE TRUCK!"

Our 2nd meat fundraiser has begun! Sell boxes of frozen meat and seafood to your friends, neighbours, co-workers and family…and best of all, stock your own freezer! For each box of meat sold by a family, 50% of the profit will go to LAC, the other 50% can be applied as a credit towards reducing your swim fees (please note, money raised by swimmers can not be redeemed in cash, only as a credit towards your account). We sold 568 boxes of meet back in November, netting the club $3400 and also helping offset membership fees - our rallying cry for the spring campaign is "Fill The Truck!" This means 1000 boxes of meat sold.

ALL forms and money must be submitted by Fri May 7 and delivery will be Sat May 15 in the Banting High School parking lot. All families will be responsible for delivering their meat orders to their customers. We are hoping that every family can sell a minimum of 10 boxes of meat to help make this fundraiser a great success.

Please remember that any individual swim equipment purchases you make on the AllTides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment.
