COACHES REPORT

As we continue to hang in there during this extended 3rd lockdown, we want to reinforce some of the reminders our mental skills consultant Natascha Wesch talked about on her Zoom session last Sunday with the senior and age group (Gold/Silver) swimmers: 1.Stay active - while we'd love to see as many of you as possible on the virtual dryland sessions, we understand if some of you are having difficulty (for whatever reason) participating in all of them. So just be sure to stay active some way, any way, as long as its safe and you're following COVID protocols, and it's OK if it's not swimming-related at all! 2. Eat properly - while ANY physical activity is good, eating ANYTHING is not! Make sure you are eating healthy and nutritious foods, because you are an athlete and your body is a machine that needs high octane fuel to operate at its best!  3. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule - try to go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning. If your go-to-sleep and get-up times are all over the place, it's like when you travel long distances and cross multiple time zones...it can wreak havoc on your mind and body. Research by sleep scientists shows that teen-aged athletes need 60+ hours of sleep each week. 4. Stay connected - to your family, to your friends, to your teammates, to your coaches...use social media or even the telephone. It's always so good to see the faces and hear the voices of the people to whom you feel the closest. The PDF of Natascha's presentation is in the Coaches Corner tab of the website. Stay strong - stay tough - stay positive. We're getting closer!

"Be like a postage stamp - it sticks to one thing until it gets there!"

A new delivery date was set for Sat May 29, but that has since been pushed even further, to Sat June 26. Donation drop-off will still be in the Banting High School parking lot from 9:30-11am on that date. The deadline to join the used clothing drive and sign up on our website has been extended to Sat June 12. THANK YOU everyone for stepping up and diving deep into your closets, and hopefully you can find somewhere out of the way to store your donations for the next 6 weeks!

EQUIPMENT

Please remember that any individual swim equipment purchases you make on the AllTides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment
