As we move into May and closer to a return to the pool (hopefully) we want to share a brief story about the career of famous American tennis player Andre Agassi, who won multiple major titles and was widely regarded as one of the hardest-working players on the pro tennis tour. He had an insane training regime, and was more intense and more fit than any other player of his era, but early on he struggled mightily and experienced alot of setbacks and mis-steps and frustration, at one point even questioning whether he even wanted to continue with the sport. Until he hooked up with coach Brad Gilbert, who watched Andre practice and play in a few tournaments (unsuccessfully) before sitting him down and saying "Andre - you're trying to be perfect with every shot. Stop trying to be perfect - just keep putting the ball back over the net until the other guy gets tired and makes the mistake." So Andre Agassi changed his approach to matches, and started to win...alot. And went on to become one of the best tennis players ever. Incidentally Agassi is married to the best female tennis player of tha era, Steffi Graf. Anyway, imagine we're in a tennis match with COVID-19. Things are far far far from perfect...but we just keep working hard...every day keep putting in whatever work we can manage...every day keep putting the ball back over the net, and sooner or later it's going to pay off. And your coaches want you to know, if you've not been able to join many of the virtual drylands, for whatever reason(s), we get it. It's OK. But we'd sure LOVE to see you join in on a few virtual sessions as we get closer to a return to the pool. We won't be mad at you when you return, quite the contrary, we'll be very very happy to see you, as will all of your teammates!

"We cannot go back and start over. But we can start from here and make a new ending."

Our 2nd meat fundraiser is almost over, and at this point we are sad to report that order submissions are well below our numbers from November and, at this time, it appears our chances of "FILLING THE TRUCK" (1000 boxes of meat) are slim. Remember that for each box of meat sold by a family, 50% of the profit will go to LAC, and the other 50% can be applied as a credit towards reducing your swim fees (please note, money raised by swimmers can not be redeemed in cash, only as a credit towards your account). We netted $3400 for the club in November.

ALL forms and money must be submitted by Fri May 7 and delivery will be Sat May 15 in the Banting High School parking lot. All families will be responsible for delivering their meat orders to their customers. We are hoping that every family can sell a minimum of 10 boxes of meat to help make this fundraiser a great success. Please note the Canadian Lobster Tails (product code 80032) are NOT available, so if you have orders for that item you'll need to inform your customers.

Please find attached:

2.     Sellers order form to compile your customer’s orders and collect money from your customers -  CLICK HERE

3.     Each Family summarizes their orders on the Sellers Order Form - CLICK HERE and submits the form to [email protected] and etransfers the total amount of the order to [email protected] (please be sure to include your 'swim family name' and the word 'meat fundraiser' in the comment section of your etransfer)

Any questions should be emailed to Nicole Chambers at [email protected]

Thanks for your support of these great opportunities to help keep LAC financially viable in these uncertain times.

Unfortunately due to the latest lockdown, Value Village was unable to accept our delivery on April 17. A new delivery date was set for Sat May 29, but that has since been pushed even further, to Sat June 26. Donation drop-off will still be in the Banting High School parking lot from 9:30-11am on that date. The deadline to join the used clothing drive and sign up on our website has been extended to Fri May 14. THANK YOU everyone for stepping up and diving deep into your closets, and hopefully you can find somewhere out of the way to store your donations for the next 6 weeks!

Delivery of our recent team order is anticipated for the week of May 10. If you have any questions regarding All Tides orders or product concerns, please contact the following email address [email protected]

If you have any officiating questions please contact Mark Lukings, L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at  [email protected]

Please remember that any individual swim equipment purchases you make on the AllTides website using our LAC coupon code result in a kickback to the club, received at the end of the year. Last year the club received almost $1000 through this arrangement, most of which was put toward the purchase of dryland training equipment. You are helping the club by making your swim equipment purchases through AllTides. All group swim equipment information can be found on our website when you are logged in:  https://www.teamunify.com/team/canlac/page/swimmer-equipment.
